Based on recent history of matchups with the MVC I do not believe for a second that we will not be able to compete from jump and be upper tier in the conference. Belmont will be right there also. I'm glad that the conference has gone with proven success over what could be success that may never pan out.

A major plus for us joining is that most years we finish the OOC part of our schedule in the upper 50 NET rankings and then the OVC starts we tank due to competition. We will not have to worry about that as much now. We can go undefeated in the conference and still lose 100 spots based on strength of schedule.

I don't think anyone here questions Murray's ability to compete from the jump. If all of your dudes return the Racers should be a title contender next season right away, IMO.

You'll compete right away. The Valley isn't very good right now and will probably take a step back next year when the older guys and Loyola leave. Belmont seems to be in good shape, Drake has Tucker DeVries, SIU & Bradley should be returning a bunch. Northern Iowa, depends on AJ Green's status.

Everyone at Illinois State will be eligible to return for the 2022-23 season. Josiah Strong is the only Senior, but has his free Covid year he can use. IF they all return the Redbirds will be tough.

Congrats to Murray! I'm glad our little rivalry will continue. Our biggest rivalry with Lipscomb is good, but it's never been as good as when we were in the same conference. Our rivalry with Murray will now continue and I believe this will take it up a notch.

I agree with Murraygrad05, it will be nice next year not to watch are NET ranking drop like a rock when we start conference play.

Welcome Racers!! This is a great addition. Excited to have you on board.

In regards to Loyola:. These President’s sure like to talk about Diversity, until it comes to their own preservation, then it’s all about Institutional fit…. LOL, imagine the mental gymnastics of that hypocrisy!

This has been a dream of mine for over 20 years. I grew up going to Arch Madness every year with my family in the 90s when Shea Seals was playing for Tulsa and Chris Carr was at SIU. The fan support for the various schools always stood out to me. Now I can give my kids these memories as a Racers fan. St. Louis is going to be lit and so are the forthcoming home-and-home matchups. This is a grand slam!

How about the team that was chosen over Murray State back in 2017 and has done absolutely nothing since joining? Shouldn't they be the one to step it up? (Obviously this is a rhetorical question they need to but I am afraid that they won't or can't until Matt Lottich is gone which unfortunately is another two years or so down the line I think.

That team got lucky because they are a private school.

Ouch. Come on, let's keep things positive.
but yes, I considered Valpo as included in existing members that haven't done much in years category :)

I wouldn't have made that comment if VUGrad1314 wasn't already down on their team.I was looking forward to them being added when they were announced.

Many welcomes to Racers fans to the MVC! As you can tell, there is a significant amount of optimism in having Murray State join the conference. We've had a few Racers fans around here for a while, and it'll be good for them to be fully fledged members of the MVC.

I don't even mind that there's going to be another MSU! Though there is a chance that Missouri State fans may remind you at basketball games, correctly and obnoxiously, that "Murray" is not a state.
