It was like that when SIU was there. A lot of Valley arenas have looked empty really this year

Heck of a win by Bradley tonight in Des Moines.

Bradley has played four MVC road games. Had 12+ point leads in all of them. Three of those games had that lead in the second half - finally got its first win of the four.

There is some talent on the roster for sure.

Crowds have been sparse for a while now. It was about 22°at tip tonight and it was on local tv too.

Credit to Bradley, they played great. But, that was probably the worst effort I've ever seen from a DeVries coached team. It was clear from the first few minutes that Bradley just wanted it a lot more than Drake did.

AJ or no AJ the UNI offense needs to find some kind of consistent flow. We have plenty of moments where we look comfortable as a whole and plenty of moments where 1 guy can create magic on his own, but the 2nd half tonight was a really frustrating half of basketball.

A limited Phyfe is still stinging too. Poor kid can't catch a break.
[Insert snappy comeback]

Plus about 50% of the Ozarks has covid right now, that certainly isn’t helping, especially with our aging fan base

I think COVID is driving people away from live games for various reasons. Whether they're trying to avoid COVID or don't think it's worth going to games when they're on TV. Or maybe because it's not worth buying tickets right now in advanced because games are getting postponed.

Outside of Sturtz and Penn - when he was in there - everyone else for Drake appeared to be sleepwalking. A lot of settling for long shots and the defensive effort was pretty bad.

A few thoughts on the Missouri St/Illinois St game. First the refs were way too involved early calling 8 fouls in less than 4 minutes and hanging 2 on both Mosley and Chatman. League needs to decide if it wants to be a big boy league or have officials as the drawing card. Greatly hampered both teams as Mosley didn't play again in the first half, playing 2 minutes and scoring 2 pts. Same for Illinois St, they had to sit Chatman most of the half and attempt to guard Prim with a couple really overmatched guys.

Anyway, Bears stll had a decent first half and closed up 10, and then totally blew the game open in the second half with an 88-63 final. Mosley scored 22 in the second half and ended with 24 ; Prim had a double double with 17-10.But probably the star for me was Donovan Clay who guarded Reeves and held the league's leading scorer to 9 pts on 4/13. Clay had his usual all around game of 10 pts, 6 rbs, 3 assists, a steal and a block . Right now the difference for the Bears is they are playing better defense and the threesome of Patterson, Haney , and Clay have brought some toughness to this team it didn't have early or last year. Baby steps, cause you have to win at home, but still perhaps as complete a game as Bears have played holding ISU to 35% shooting while shooting 58% themselves plus 53% from 3pt on 8 makes, and 20 of 23 at the ft for 87%.
The Bear is the largest carnivore on the North American continent; beware the Bear!
