Locked him down LAST year when Isaiah was a sophomore. THIS year is clearly a different story.

SIU is currently a Thursday team and now they get back to back against Loyola. Really thought SIU was headed in the right direction 2 years ago but they're so far off now. They run a middle school offense. Was always worried about Mullins being coached by Chris Lowery for 4 years, they run the same terrible offense.

Brian Wardle won back to back valley tournaments in year 4 and 5 with Bradley. I hate to say it but Mullins and the Salukis are still very, very far off. No inside game at all for the forseeable future and who knows if Jones and Domask want to stick around for another year.

Seemed like he barely got a chance to guard him this game. I watched that 5min highlight clip of Mosley that you posted in the other thread and there’s was only 1-2 clips of him scoring on Lucas. I’m not sure how many he actually scored on him, but I knew going into this game with the way Mosley had been playing, that Lucas keeping him in check was Loyola’s only hope. I was at this game and when he got in foul trouble early, I knew Loyola was screwed. Shooting 9/34 from deep is also not a winning recipe.

I look forward to the rematch, I’d consider Lucas holding him to under 25pts a success at this point. Mosley seems like the clear candidate for MVC player of the year, it doesn’t seem like anyone else in the Valley is anywhere near his level.

I'm still waiting for the UNI poster who likes to claim injuries for every bad loss as to why they blew a 10 point lead at home yesterday? Was someone hurt? Or was it just another in a season full of disappointments?

That statement just hit me like a ton of bricks because I had never looked at it that way. How far has the SIU program fallen that what Wardle has done at Bradley so far can be used as a measuring stick for the Salukis?
I do agree with the point that SIU still seems way off at this point. That is the biggest problem the MVC currently has and it isn't just SIU.
Illinois State has settled into a rut and it appears that Muller is in a situation like Barry Hinson had at Missouri State.
Evansville is a complete disaster with no signs of getting better.
Missouri State appears (in my opinion) to be hitting their ceiling. I say that because Ford can bring in talent, but they are wildly inconsistent and in-game coaching seems to be a problem. Maybe not, just my opinion.
Bradley seems to have different problems than Missouri State, but they are in the same situation from the standpoint of a coach having major limitations.
Valparaiso has been a complete non-factor since joining the league, except for one weekend in St. Louis. They definitely need someone named Drew on the sideline.
Indiana State has a new coach, so we will see.
That leaves Drake and UNI. They have struggles with consistency too, but they seem to be the programs that are staying afloat at this point and that starts with coaching and the athletic departments as a whole.
The route to the league getting back to where they want is for their programs to figure it out for themselves, and most of them are doing a really bad job of it right now.

I think AJ is still in the picture but falling behind quickly. The thing about Mosely is he doesn't neet a set or screen to get his pts. A clear-out almost guarantees he scores. If help side comes, he probably still scores but is very capable of finding the open guy (especially his high school teammate Black). AJ usually gets his points from his teammates.

No excuses. We got outplayed, out coached, outworked in the last 10 minutes.

Jake gets stuck in ISO mode and the lack of movement on offense leaks over to the defensive end and then missing free throws put nice gold bow right on the top of it.

Does anyone know the last player to win MVC POY that wasn’t on a team that won the MVC conference in the same year? If we’re going off recent MVC history whoever wins MVC POY most likely depends on what team wins the regular season. So I’d put Mosley, Green, Williamson, and Penn in the mix, but if Mosley keeps playing like this he should win POY regardless of what team is crowned regular season champs.

1996-97 Jason Daisy (21.2 Pts/4.3 Reb) won POY Eldon Muller won COY. Northern Iowa finished 4th.
Illinois State finished 1st. POY should have been Rico Hill (18.8 Pts/8.2 Reb). COY should have been Kevin Stallings.
