Must be getting Dippin' Dots in the arena. Big day.

Hope they have the cotton candy dippin' dots. If some place has cotton candy dippin' dots my wife will always get them.

I live about fifteen miles from the Dippin' Dots factory. They have had an interesting couple of years. Most of their distribution is theaters, sporting events, etc. so the initial wave of the pandemic hit them hard. However, they also got an unexpected opportunity for new business helping with the COVID vaccines. Like the ice cream, the vaccines have to be super cooled and Dippin Dots already had the distribution technology and knowhow to help with this. It may be that some amount of their distribution capacity is still being used for that purpose. Of more recent relevance, there was an explosion at a Dippin Dots factory last July. Didn't really break out into the national press with all the news outlets still focused on the pandemic. Here's a link

https://www.wpsdlocal6.com/ott/special_ ... 8180a.html

They're pretty secretive about their manufacturing process for obvious reasons but it must be pretty dangerous because this is the second explosion they've had in the past few years. Not sure how much that set back their production. They have also been hit by the labor shortage just as much as everybody else. It's particularly bad in this area. Fast food chains are closing dining rooms or closing early. Went to get a sandwich a couple weeks ago only to be confronted by a taped on sign that said "due to lack of employees, we are now closing at 5PM". I figure we'll all be getting our food from robots sooner rather than later.

Between all of the above factors, you may be waiting a while to get your Dippin Dots fix. Sorry to be a bearer of bad news.

This is, quite frankly, devastating to my wife and all of the other amusement park and movie customers who enjoy their ice cream frozen into little BB sized balls.

I hope UIC is just as focused if not more focused on winning in competition as they are on winning the presser. Winning the presser is great but winning games is far better.

I don't think UIC has to rush to win basketball games. Took Loyola some time and guessing it takes UIC some time too. Murray State and Belmont felt more like win-now additions while UIC will be a slower grind. I think all 3 are great additions and the best possible additions they could have made.

I agree. They're a long term add and not one expected to contribute immediately. I was just being playful with that remark. I'm excited about UIC and the future of the Valley. I hope Lipitz's programs make good on his words! The more strong and competitive programs this league fields the better it is for us all! Welcome and Good luck UIC and Go MVC!

Ha, have no fear. Trust me when I say so am I and every other UIC fan. I want the whole athletic program to put in the effort that I expect not just from them as the team I root for but now for a MVC team. And the excitement and optimism shared today to grow from here moving forward.

I think the basketball program might make a quicker turnaround than some might think...of course, only time will tell.

I think you might be right! I know pressers are big time rah rah events but I came away very impressed by what I heard from UIC's leadership. I hope it's more than just words and the optimism of a new era (The last president at Valpo not the current one jury's still out on him talked a big game about athletics and did not do enough to prioritize them in the judgment of many Valpo fans for instance)but I came away encouraged and excited by what I heard yesterday!

I wonder who the Horizon League will target for UIC's replacement.
