Yep it's me. I supported Murray State's MVC candidacy from Day One and took a bit of flak for my vociferous advocacy for the Racers move to the MVC. I literally never stopped pounding the table for them until they got the invite. I joined the Murray State board because I wanted to talk with\get to know the Racer fans show solidarity with them and commiserate with them that they weren't in the MVC yet like we all wanted them to be. You guys are an awesome fun and cool bunch who clearly love your team. I love to see that kind of passion in a fanbase. It's how I try to be as a Valpo fan (although the Lottich years are making that VERY difficult for me). I've said it before and I'll say it again I couldn't be more pleased that we're finally conference mates and I can't wait to play the Racers regularly. Too bad our program seems to be down lately so you'll probably have a much easier time against us than you have had in previous meetings but maybe that will change one day. Good luck in your new home starting next year Go Valpo and Go MVC!

I am actually RacerSJ on that board. I suck at remembering usernames. Sorry Valpo is having a down spell. It happens to most programs. If it makes you feel better, your NET ranking would be good for fourth place in our league this year.

It doesn't but thank you. If you look at Valpo's history outside of the Homer and Bryce Drew eras this has been far more indicative of Valpo's performance as a program than those eras were so I guess it's just a return to normal. That said, for younger fans like myself whose earliest memories of Valpo basketball are of Bryce as a player leading Valpo to glory in the Mid-Con and the Drews dominating the Horizon League this regression to the mean has been very jarring and difficult to accept. I hope we can catch lightning in a bottle with our next coaching hire whenever we decide to move on from Lottich but I don't know. I'm very eager to see Valpo do the MVC proud because I love this conference as much as I love Valpo basketball itself but I'm just not sure if Valpo is going to be in a position to deliver anytime soon. It'd be great if our new additions can hit the ground running starting next year so that maybe that would shock Valpo into action to improve their programs and facilities faster Apparently we just got broadcasting capability on ESPN+ for baseball\softball and our women's soccer and volleyball programs are making tremendous progress so there are positive signs but as for our flagship sport I'm not holding my breath. The mood on our fan board has turned increasingly pessimistic over the past couple of years and engagement is starting to flag a bit as well as attendance at games. It's very sad to see. The Lottich era has been very hard and trying on us all.

It's like looking for Loyola fans at the BPV Fan Hangout before they are about to play in the Archmadness title game. Too good to hang out with the commoners I suppose. Maybe they just don't like Todd Thomas.

Loyola did have two fans there before the game with Illinois State. They might not have liked Todd after that.

Belmont has a fair number of fans on Reddit. I think it's a generational thing. Not enough fans from when php forums were more common.

That makes sense. After all, the period of php popularity was very early in Belmont's ascension as a program. At that time nobody knew just how good Belmont would and could be and how long they would sustain it. I doubt anyone would have thought Belmont would be in the MVC 10-15 years ago. Same with Loyola. Same with Valpo. Same with UIC. Same (most likely) with Murray State.

Uic used to draw very solid crowds in the Jimmy Collins era
but the program has been struggling a bit the last few years
I think crowds will jump substantially in the new conference especially
With all of the SIU, ISU, Bradley alumni in Chicago.
We are thrilled to be in the MVC!

Chicago is a world class city with many great restaurants and activities. Looking forward to chatting (or tipping a few) with MVC fans at Credit Union 1 Arena
