If that happens and the MVC goes for them I think the two State Dakotas come, as well. It's literally like 45 extra minutes on a plane at that point. Then they will pair them UTA, Milwaukee, or NKA. Which ever one decides to pay up.

Only if these programs become (or continue to be as in the case of SDSU) good adds for basketball. Without that this isn't going to happen and I don't think there's any appetite for 16 nor should there be except in an extreme case where all programs added add strength to the conference.

UNI, Drake and Missouri State are the outliers in terms of distance to the conference right now. Springfield, MO is closer to Arlington, TX and Nashville, TN than Cedar Falls is to Fargo, ND. "It's only a flight" may work for men's basketball but all the other sports it is an added expense that is just too much for most schools to justify. Heck, UNI might be a hard sell to be an add to the conference if we weren't already in.

If they went that route I'm sure they'd add divisions. North South.

North: NDSU, SDSU, UNI, St. Thomas (or UW-M), Drake, Illinois-Chicago, Bradley, Illinois State.

South: Southern Illinois, Indiana State, Murray State, Belmont, Evansville, Missouri State, Valpo (had to keep Bradley and ISU together) Northern Kentucky (or UMKC, Oral Roberts, UTA)

Gross. The Valley would never do that. The conference is done growing for awhile. Sounds like they will always keep their ears to the ground, but they’re essentially done.

Starting with the most recent...

NDSU 9 Titles in 11 Years < Loyola beats #1 Seed Illinois in 2021 NCAA Tournament
NDSU 9 Titles in 11 Years < Murray State 2019 Season with Ja Morant
NDSU 9 Titles in 11 Years < Loyola 2018 Final Four
NDSU 9 Titles in 11 Years < Wichita St. 2013 Final Four
NDSU 9 Titles in 11 Years < UNI beats #1 Kansas in 2010 NCAA Tournament
NDSU 9 Titles in 11 Years < Valparaiso 1998 Sweet Sixteen with Bryce Drew Buzzer Beater in 1st Round

These are just a few moments (and I am leaving out a TON more) that illustrate why NDSU football only gets a passing mention on SportsCenter once or twice a year and the MVC should not bring them into the league.

Just out of curiosity... What do the viewership numbers look like for the FCS Championship Game compared to the finals of Arch Madness?

It’s not subjective. Loyola’s Final Four run earned $8.5 million for the Valley in NCAA units and I’m sure countless millions more in free publicity. Last year was even more with 5 more units. NDSU gets a check from the NCAA for its travel expenses to Frisco Texas I believe lol

Take NDSU off the list. Adding both Dakota States would have been a good move for the valley at one time. And it certainly would have excited NDSU fans. But not anymore. Honestly, a conference with UIC in it is meh. A Chicago commuter school spitting distance from some of the most dangerous neighborhoods in the city. No thank you. The Valley really has fallen if the leadership thought UIC was a good idea. Granted, the Summit isn't great. But we're already there and usually are a contender. So we might as well stay unless something develops on the football side.
