Could the conference start fining UE for not having a band at home games?

Suggestion #5 - tell the University presidents to schedule spring break to not conflict with Arch Madness so students can be encouraged to come. There were virtually no students (except for the Catholic University of Rogers Park) at the games.

Aha! It's spring break all the time in Evansville. That must be why there's no students and no band.

Even in the 90s when UE was successful, student interest was low. I remember hearing two students say the Aces weren't worth watching if they don't make the NCAA. Too many UE students aren't locals who have 0 appreciation for the history of the program and the ones who are local only go there because of their financial aid package.

I don’t like the layout of the behind the basket areas. Give one box to the band and the other to the cheerleaders. It looks stupid to have those two 99% empty sections right behind the baskets.

Agreed. Lots of wasted space.

Did I see right that the students that went, primarily SIU because their student section has been AWESOME this year- took over Redbird Arena, were put in the second level? That's embarrassing. When I was in school, the student ticket lines were often out the door and kids would get there a couple hours before tip to make sure they get in the first row behind the basket. Watching on TV this year, they do need to do a better job where they locate fans. I know it's hard with planning since you never know how good a team is going to be but I like the suggestion of putting students behind the team's benches. I feel like they won't do that because isn't media row pretty close to that? I know when I was in student sections, some stuff was said that shouldn't be on a hot mic. Regardless, then you run into the issue of students actually going.

Very homer comment coming here, so beware. As another poster pointed out, the Redbirds (along with some other teams) being decent effects attendance so much. In the last 15 years or so when the Birds have been "decent" (6 or better) they have brought close to the most fans. Obviously, Creighton and Wichita typically had the most, but of the "non conference leaders" at the time, the Birds seemed to always show up. UNI was right there too. Birds fans will be back with the new regime. Probably not so much next year but in years 3-4 it should be back to what it was. As a hoops junkie, I know I'll be looking forward to Arch 2023.

Agree 100% Adunk!

Haven't been to Arch Madness in a while with the Birds struggling the last three season however we
are already putting together plans to go next year for sure with the renewed optimism for Redbird Basketball!

No. The upper level was curtained off again. Students were in the lower level corners. Could be wrong, but I only saw SIU and Loyola students there.

There were a half decent amount of Bradley students. Certainly not nearly as many as Loyola or SIU, but a handful of them. They chose to move over to the unused seats by the Bradley section than to sit in the designated student section.

I agree. The renovation didn't help the sightlines for basketball. In 2006, my group sat in the endzone next to the student section(s). In face, during the championship game we were next to the Bradley band.

Was that a renovation thing where they can no longer change the configuration and do the low-inclined student section? I figured that was just a covid thing.

My final thought this year is that I'll be cheering on Murray State and South Dakota State in the NCAAT, along with UNI (and maybe MSU and Drake) in the NIT. I don't really care how Loyola does. If they make us some money then fine, but if they lose their first game it won't bother me at all. As far as I'm concerned they're an A10 team now.
