Added.

Birds were heavily involved with him in HS. I believe he was in their final 4. Of course, new staff and what not.

Chicago kid that went to Iowa State then back home and now on the move again.

He'd be a nice piece for a Valley school. Got hurt right after he got to Ames and the coaching change and never really got off the ground. There's still absolutely something there.

Kent has had some nice games but later in the season had a really difficult time with turnovers and could not find consistency in his shooting. By the end of the season, he was losing out on minutes to Zek Montgomery, though he did get the start in Arch Madness.

I think this will be a good move for him and he can find some confidence in a new system under a new coach. I don't know about Schertz's coaching style but seemed like Kent would play really tight under Wardle if things weren't going his way.

The answer is Southern Illinois if Jones and Domask are back

If SIU wins the league with the same team they had last year, the league will be very bad.

What is not readily apparent is the fact that SIU lost, in essence, one starting caliber player, Ben Coupet, and has two redshirt freshman who will be in the rotation this year. Foster Wonders is a 3 star 6-5 guard, scored over 2,000 points in high school, ranked 5th in the state of Michigan his senior year. Scottie Ebube is a 6-10, 265lb center who graduated from Mundelein High, a Chicago burb, and was ranked in top 10 in Illinois. He is extremely athletic and an excellent shot blocker. Throw in 7 foot center true freshman Cade Hornecker out of Texas, and considering SIU has a couple (or more) schollies to give, could be interesting.

Here’s what I don’t understand. If Wonders and Ebele are such good players why did they redshirt? It wasn’t like SIU was loaded and ran away with the league.

I think there were more redshirts and Freshmen getting less minutes than usual last year because of COVID interrupting 2 high school years and players getting extra COVID years. Lot of interesting Freshmen around the Valley sat last year. Drake has an interesting one in Conor Enright. Loyola had a good Freshmen class that mostly sat. And yeah those teams were competing and SIU wasn't (I thought at least Wonders should have played last year) but I don't think it 100% means they won't pan out. I will say though that it lowers my expectations a bit though, although I'm hearing good things about Ebube.

To the original point, SIU can compete next year but they'd need to hit on 2 or more transfers. Right now they have only one open scholarship and it's to replace their 3rd best player, Ben Coupet. If they bring back the same team and just replace Coupet, I can't imagine they're going to win the Valley barring some drastic improvements from their returning players.

Add Murray State's Dionte Bostick. Usually the ninth or tenth player off the bench.

Dear Triblequest- could not respond to you directly, embedded quotes, etc,, Does the name Darren Brooks ring a bell? It should. Wth 6-8 Mulia and 6-9 Filewich at center, why burn a year of eligibility for Ebube? Would have not have made sense. The ratings I quoted were not my opinion, they were from people who do that for a living.

Who do what for a living?

Darren Brooks played in two games as a true freshman. He got hurt then redshirted. That SIU team was also really good and had been good for quite some time. It was also 20 years ago.

But other than all those factors its a perfect coorelation.
