Why not get a master's for free? Austin Phyfe is going to be one semester short of his doctorate in Educational Leadership. It's a great thing for kids.

I'm thinking a couple more enter in the next week. Chatman is the most interesting situation. He was a heck of a player before his injury. He bashed heads with Muller during the COVID year. I think if it wasn't for his injury, he would've already hit the portal. I don't think a ton of schools would be calling a kid coming off an ACL injury.

So as I was saying....Sy enters the portal.

Just out of curiosity....as of today, how many scholarships do each of the MVC schools have open?

For Drake, I'm pretty sure it's one. There has been nothing official as to whether any of the four seniors are coming back to use their extra year of eligibility (Penn, Wilkins, Sturtz, Brodie). Drake fans are assuming they're all coming back.

Drake had a juco All-American (2nd team) that was supposed to visit tomorrow. When a reporter for the Des Moines Register contacted the player, he said that Drake had cancelled the visit because they had somebody in the transfer portal that they preferred. If that's true, then it certainly sounds like Drake is only looking to fill one spot (wouldn't cancel the kid's visit otherwise).

UNI has one.

Everybody's working under the assumption that Green and Phyfe will both be back, if they were to move on, it would open up additional rides.

FWIW, UNI hosted Dayton transfer Moulaye Sissoko over the weekend (C 6-9 240) and word is that it went very well.

I believe the Birds have 6 right now.

This does not include the Simpkins Twins, who committed under the old regime and have not signed yet. At last check in, they were still coming but the fact they have signed or set up a “signing day” event suggests to me they may not be.

Also, expected to sign the Virgina transfer this weekend.

As of now, the officially have one new recruit signed. 6’3 combo guard, BLoomington native, Colton Sandage. He’s the younger brother of former Redbird, Brandon Holtz.

This is this is the relative of Illinois States Haurona Sissoko. Their host family was in Iowa. Birds recruited Moulaye out of high school. Haurona has spent some time during breaks over the years running pick up games at Drake.

I don't believe so. Moulaye went to high school prep school in Georgia.

Grand View Christian in Des Moines has a lot of kids from Africa. Harouna, Issa Samake at Drake and they've got a 7-1 kid right now that's a low major prospect in Daniel Tibiloba.

He still could have had the same host family. N'Faly Dante, who plays for Oregon had the same host family as Drake's Issa Samake, but played his high school ball at Sunrise Christian in Wichita.

SIU has 1. Could be 2, depending on Harvey’s health. Most SIU fans would like to be able to use 2 scholarships instead of using one on Harvey.

Bradley still has 3 rides to give at this point.

Jashon Henry is coming back for a 6th year since he basically missed all of last year with concussion issues.

They lose:
Mikey Howell - Graduated
Ari Boya - Graduated
Terry Roberts - Transfer
Jayson Kent - Transfer (to ISUb)

They Add:
James "Pop" Weathers - Juco PG
