I think Travis Steele would be a very interesting name assuming he's willing to get right back into coaching following his ouster from Xavier. He did a decent job there and I know he was heavily considered for the Evansville job last time before taking his name out to take the Xavier job. I think it would be a really interesting hire for both Steele to rebuild himself (I think he got a raw deal at Xavier personally) and for Evansville to take a swing on a promising candidate who could lead their program back to prominence. I hope it happens! I want Evansville to be a good program again for the greater good of the league and a potential rivalry with Valpo who also desperately needs to improve. Ragland is an interesting name too and one I thought they would consider heavily earlier but maybe he just needed more experience which he now has. I think he could very well do a good job there too.

He was snagged up by Miami of Ohio just a couple weeks after being let go by Xavier. Good coach, he will do well there.

It will be interesting to see how Steele rebounds at Miami. One guy that we're a day late on that I would have liked to seen in the mix is Michael Lewis, who just took the Ball State job.

We've ran two polls on our board, and Ben McCollum has been the overwhelming fan favorite in both of them. Certainly makes sense, 13 year career record at NW MO of 334-83. Winning 4 D-2 NCAA Championships, 3 of which were in the Ford Center has certainly endeared him to the area.

Other names include David Ragland, Chris Hollender, Ryan Miller and of course Tom Crean. Before Lickliter, I might have been more receptive to a P5 coach rehab, but I really would like to see someone hungry to prove himself at the next level.

My sleeper candidate is Todd Franklin at Vincennes. Another guy who seems to do nothing but win. Career record at the JUCO level of 647-150, with a 317-53 mark at Vincennes. Knows the area as his entire career has been within 70 miles of Evansville. With the portal world we are now in, a guy who successfully retools his roster every two years may be better prepared to handle it than a traditional 4 year coach.

Steele was so bad at Xavier that they fired him after a Win.

If you want him at Valpo, I’m rooting for both of you.

If you are just listing Good People in Evansville, the list is a lot longer.
If you are suggesting him as the next Head Basketball Coach at UE…. That’s laughable

If another week passes and UE hasn't announced a coach, the university should get a refund from the search firm.

It's freaking May and UE has zero men's basketball coaches. ... and only six players listed on its roster who averaged a combined 16.6 ppg.

The Aces have put some dreadful teams on the floor, but this one might require eye protection.
