It appears you can say that about a number of teams (at least on paper) coming into the season. Missouri State, Bradley, UNI and Drake seemed to have solidified themselves as contenders. Murray State has resurrected itself from an early transfer-induced grave to put itself in the "middle of the pack". And if I may say so myself, UIC has improved itself in talent and position depth to not come into the Valley ranked as the Conference laughing stock.

Evansville is already the laughing stock of the conference, you guys are safe.

UIC is probably better than Illinois State right now too.

I'd also say Indiana State though I know this board is way higher on the Trees than I am. I could very well be wrong.

Redbirds land a comitment from highly sought after 6'6, 225lb wing, Secena Knight out of BYU. List of suitors included St. Bonnie, Ga Tech, Miss State, Vandy, and a slew of MMs. He started his career at San Jose State where he was all-conference, then transferred to LSU (DNP), then to BYU. He's utilizing his COVID year, so this will be the end of his journey. I don't love how traveled he was and have no insight to what happened at LSU, but it seems to be a nice one-year add to help bridge the gap.

The Simpkins Twins officially, "decommitted" recently so Pedon has 3 more scholarships to fill. Hoping for some very good news tonight.

Drake (finally) announced today that all the "seniors with a extra year of eligibility" have decided to come back for one more season.

Roman Penn
DJ Wilkins
Garret Sturtz
Darnell Brodie

One scholarship left to fill. I'm hoping Bulldog fans hear something about that in the next week or so.

Vision gave an earlier listing for the Bears, and nothing has really changed. We sit at 14 scholarship players, so will still need to do something there with one; and we have 2 pwo , so a total of 16 players . I've never witnessed as big a roster remake in 1 year as we are seeing with the Bears . I have to say I like this roster better than any I can remember for the Bears top to bottom, but at the same time , it has so many new players/moving parts it's hard to decipher how it all shakes out pt wise for some guys. A very interesting year to come is probably an understatement.

Center/Forwards:
Dawson Carper, 7'0, Grad. Finally healthy end of last yr. Hawaii transfer who has shot over 60% fg career.
Donovan Clay , 6'8, Sr. All MVC Defensive team, averaged 8 ppg, 6 rbs in 1st yr as a Bear.
NJ Benson, 6'8 , Fr. Big ,strong , offered by most MVC teams in Illinois as well as Murray St and SLU
Dalen Ridgnal, 6'7, Transfer from Georgia, 2 time Juco AA prior to that. KC kid
Jonathan Dunn, 6'7, Fr, We are United Prep , Offers from Texas Tech, MU. Big time motor and athleticism.
Jonathan Mogbo, 6'9, Jr, NE Okla. A&M. #22 Juco . My sleeper pick; has Alize Johnson build, characteristics.

Wings :
Raphe Ayres , 6'5 , So, longest tenure on team [3 yrs] but only 10 games.Shooter, #1 in Vermont as HS Sr
Chance Moore, 6'5, So Transfer from Arkansas, 4 **** and # 84 in 2021 class per ESPN
James Graham III, 6'8 So, Transfer from Maryland, 4**** and # 78 class of 2020 per 247 Sports

Guards:
Matthew Lee, 6'0, Sr,Transfer from St Peters . Starting pg and played over 26 mins in each NCAA game .
Kendle Moore, 6'0, Grad, Transfer from Colorado St, 4 year starter , followed Medved from Drake to CSU
Alston Mason , 6'2 , So Transfer from Oklahoma. 3 *** Offers from Nebraska, K St, Oklahoma, Loyola Chicago
Bryan Trimble , 6'2 Grad, Transfer from Akron, averaged 10.4 ppg . Started career at St Johns. Shooter. KC kid
Damien Mayo ,6'3 , Fr, Link Prep, started HS at Chaminade 3*** Great intangibles / strong base /leader type.

PWO:
Tommy Pinnegar , 6'1, family big time donors, but is Springfield HS all time leader in 3 pt made.More a NAIA
Kannon Gibson 6'4, Fr, Link Prep HS and prep teammate of Dunn. Legit d-2 offers .

MSU lists all players by their year in college, not by years of eligibility left, so some have more eligibility than it looks.

Notice Dunk didn't say what amazing inside knowledge he had. Not surprising.
