Xavier Bledson 6'6
Kailex Stephens 6'7 - Considered a BIG but I would say Hybrid
Robbie Avila 6'10 (Freshman) - BIG
Julian Larry 6'3
Jayson Kent 6'7
Rob Martin 5'10 (Freshman)
Zach Hobbs 6'5
Cam Crawford 6'5
Masen Miller 6'2

I think they might be looking to add 1 more (A big). I put in my opinion who I think will be our most consistent starting 5. And they are all seniors.

Wonder if Jayson Kent realized he was going to be the 10th guy when he committed.

I honestly don't know if he will be 10th guy I just listed the names and and put number next to the starters. But he will definitely play.

6'9, 230 lb forward Alston Andrews has opted to return to ILST. Adds additional post depth. We aren't really sure what we have with him. It's believe Muller brought him in as more of a project. As we get further removed from his tenure, it is easier to see that Muller was pretty good at bringing in talent, just had a tough time developing. I remember when he committed, Andrews' high school coach praised the fact that he was a young senior (I believe he was 17 when he graduated HS), said he was still growing, and compared his skillset to Dwight Howard in that he can use his size to get good shots in the post. A couple years in, we haven't seen it but he didn't get much opportunity either. It'll be interesting to see if the new staff can help him along and how he'll be used.

Racers add ESPN 4* F Sam Murray II out of Harrison Central High School in Gulfport, MS, only one scholarship left to fill. Be tough to top this week.

Racers have amassed a decent amount of talent after almost everyone transferred out. They'll need time to get on the same page but should at least contend for the top half of the conference. Not bad.

If I had to pick a top 7:
1. Drake--Returning a bunch of talent and has the best coach in the conference in my opinion
2. Missouri State--Lost a ton but loaded up on talent, can Ford get over the hump?
3. Murray State--Same as Missouri State. They're gonna be a bit younger than Missouri State though so might take them a bit longer to get going.
4. SIU---I think they've improved since last year but I don't know if they'll score enough to seriously contend for a conference title
5. Bradley--Think they'll reload and contend like always. Rienk Mast is gonna have a breakout year.
6. Belmont---They have some talent here but I worry about how they're going to adjust to the Valley. They struggled a bit with athleticism in the OVC against Morehead and Murray.
7. Northern Iowa---Wish they used the portal better but they have some good returning talent in Born and Heise. And Jacobson teams are always going to be in the mix.

And then there are some good up and coming teams like Illinois State and Indiana State that can make some noise, same with Valpo. Also like what UIC has done but I expect a bit of an adjustment for them.

I weep for the media and coaches that have to vote on a preseason poll though with all the new pieces and moving parts.

I don't think the Valley is a strong conference compared to the last few years but I do think it's a deep conference and things will be improving over the next few years.

I see things fairly similar except I see Bradley a lot better than that. At least they should be or Wardle just isn't getting it done.

I'm meh on them, don't know if they did enough to replace Roberts. They do have some decent pieces though that I think can take a step like Leons and I love Mast. I was down on them last year and thought there was no way they'd be better than SIU so maybe I'm wrong.

At this point my biggest concern for the Racers (and for Missouri St as both teams are in similar situations) is chemistry.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see either ISU finish ahead of Northern Iowa. Coach Jake seems fairly allergic to the portal.

Definitely, but you know what, coaches who figure out how to rebuild on the fly yearly are gonna be the ones doing well in this current climate.
