Racers add ESPN 4* F Sam Murray II out of Harrison Central High School in Gulfport, MS, only one scholarship left to fill. Be tough to top this week.

What was the injury issue with this kid? I’m hearing it caused some big schools to back away from him. And it does seem odd he would wait this long to commit.

It was a minor MCL injury according to this.

Nice pickup for UIC, think they definitely will show better than a few existing MVC teams .

Good get for sure. Jones probably wasn’t an SEC level player but should be very good in the MVC.

Disclaimer- haven’t seen these guys play any yet, so I reserve the right to be wrong.

Looking at the Racers roster I’m struck most by the shooting ability and ball handling up and down the roster. 12/13 have the ability to handle the ball. The “worst” is probably Burns who is average for his position. The other thing that stands out is the overall length.

My best guess is that you will see the Racers live up to their name this season, playing uptempo full court basketball. When forced into the halfcourt, expect ball denial defense and disruption in the passing lanes.

I will update you all when I see them this summer. But from the near catastrophe of the beginning of the offseason, Prohm and staff have done very well building a roster that will be able to compete early, but even better, is poised to grow into a team that could very well be dangerous.

I am not seeing a “C” behind any of the names on Murray roster. Where’s the beef?

Man, there's a few SIU posters that are teetering on the 'Old Man Yells at Cloud' line.

2007 was a long, long time ago.

Damaria Franklin returns to UIC after taking a look into the NBA Draft. He averaged 17.8/6.9/2.5

The Redbird Basketball Twitter account is doing a formal "introduction" to the '22-'23 roster, which tells me the book is closed on the '22 recruiting class and the final scholarship will be used on a walk-on this year and then given to a '23 recruit. I'd assume Malcolm Miller gets the honor as the longest tenured walk-on but who knows.

Overall, I see ILST and Mo State in somewhat similar positions in terms of bringing in a ton of experience through the portal. It'll just be on the staffs to see if/how quickly they can get their teams to jell together.
