I don't see that; it's an ok schedule but lacks any certainty as far as Q1 type wins. The only top 100 teams from last year are all MM's that are always iffy as far as ratings year to year, in Furman [ 82] Middle Tenn St[95] and Chattanooga [63] The only BCS team is BC and they were 13-20 [141]. Again, if you aren't getting double figure Q1 games, it's hard to hold on to an at large bid . Not knocking Belmont, it's a competitive schedule , but a P-5 with a 18-13 record and 6-8 Q1 wins would get in ahead of them unless they were almost perfect noncon and probably 17-3 MVC. Just the way it is these days.

Last season there was a lot of uncertainty around Loyola making the tournament based on lack of “quality wins” even with their high NET (assuming they lost the ship), yet they ended up with a 10 seed, with more than a few spots between them and wrong side of the bubble. If the NET ranking is there (usually about top 40), they’ll get in. Last two years I’ve noticed the committee seemed to pick the top 40 plus a few hand chosen others. That’s not to say they’ll give you a fair seed within that top 40 though… See Loyola’s NET 10 season yet they got an 8 seed.

Shouldn’t hurt that the chair this year is Bradley AD Chris Reynolds.

Good point as far as the NET. The pushback is that Loyola played in a marquee MTE with games against Michigan State, Auburn, and Arizona State and regular season games against DePaul and Vanderbilt. Loyola had a winning record against Power 5 teams, and I think that matters a ton. Even against bad Power 5 teams, it still makes a difference.

If they go 26-4 this year, they'll get in easily.

I'm rooting for the MVC as much as anyone, but I disagree with this. The 2020 UNI team was 25-6 with a neutral site win over South Carolina and a road win over #24 Colorado and was likely on the wrong side of the bubble, had there been a tournament. A 26-4 Belmont team might get in (and I hope they do), I just have a problem with the word easily being in there.

All UNI had to do was win one game in StL and we didn't get it done. That's the reason. The only bonkers Valley Tournament ever.

Exactly. 26-6 with a close loss in the SF gets in. 25-6 with a 20-point loss to an 8-seed doesn’t get in.

As previously mentioned, this year’s Chair is the Bradley AD. Historically, that bodes well for people connected to the Chair.

Not sure which thread to put this one in. But conference schedule should be out soon.

Twitter rumors that the league schedule is being released tomorrow.

That sound you hear is every fan base praying that they got a weekend in Nashville...

IMO midweek in Nashville is much more fun. Fewer bachelorette parties… plenty of fun to be had

Allegiant has a direct between PIA and Nashville that runs Fri & Mon, which is the main motivation for Bradley fans wanting Belmont to be on the weekend. Although it would be interesting to see if they'd add a one-off just for a mid-week game.

Bears pick up a h/h with Middle Tenn St starting in Springfield this year; still no complete noncon schedule with perhaps league schedule out today. But looks like a so-so schedule likely with best games being roadies vs St Mary's and BYU, home vs MTSU, and MTE games with UNCW and Vermont.
