Poll: Would Missouri State accept a Sun Belt invite?

The MVFC is usually rated above the Sun Belt, MAC, and CUSA most seasons. Then throw in MVC basketball to the mix and it's always higher than the SBC. If you think about it, Missouri State would really be spending more money just to drop down competitively.

No its not. FBS > FCS

FBS>FCS as a blanket statement sure but I’d put our top football programs against any in that conference. I do understand the appeal though.

I can’t find a single rating system that had the Sun Belt 6th. With the P5 and the AAC (who had a team in the CFP plus another team ranked), I don’t see how that’s even possible.

I can’t find a single rating system that had the Sun Belt 6th. With the P5 and the AAC (who had a team in the CFP plus another team ranked), I don’t see how that’s even possible.

Also, with such few games between FCS and FBS, it would be basically impossible for an FCS conference to end up higher rated than an FBS conference. It’s quite different than basketball where basically anyone can plan anyone. Almost all FCS schools only get 1 (or 0) chance at an FBS opponent per year.

Bleacher Report had the Sunbelt 6th, ahead of the MW at 7 and the Pac12 at 8th. The MVFC was 12th. Doesn't really matter in the scheme of things , so much to yet be determined in regards to how things shake out at the top.

Every rating system I’ve looked at has the Sun Belt 8th. I’m sure there’s one that bumps them ahead of the MWC for 7th.

8th is still very good. I just don’t like misleading information such as “the Sun Belt was 6th last year”.

Any rating system is just an opinion; they may have a formula they use, but it's still just an opinion based on their formula. If not, all ratings would be the same regardless of formula. Nothing misleading about stating a reputable sports org like Bleacher Report rated the Sun Belt 6th. It's just one opinion, just like everyone's in this thread. It's all just info to be gleaned and considered . In the end however, that's hardly any consideration to the original question posed by this thread. Missouri State will leave if they think the opportunity presented is in their best interest , just as any other institution would if they felt similar. We have a group of football centrist fans who want MSU to move to FBS regardless of conference , while most are a bit more cautious with concerns about the impact on other sports . That's where I'm at, I can live with a move, I just don't think it's critical anymore because most of FBS will not be in the upper tier anymore fairly soon, actually aren't now . I'm much more of the mind to wait and look for the fall out from that alliance and see what "like Universities" are in a similar spot and looking to align together. It could well be right where we're at.

Probably nothing but UNI took most of their administration and entire men's and women's basketball staffs to Air Force yesterday and the Mountain West commissioner was there.

Again, most likely nothing more than experiencing the Academy but it is something that happened.
