For preseason, the predictions are fine except Belmont. They should be as low as Murray State.

BEARZ77 wrote:I wasn't much impressed with the Blue Ribbon last year after it being so bally hoed for years. I thought the content was probably the most thorough, but the format terrible. No rosters, no graphics, no schedules ; for the price, I could have gotten 2-3 other pubs. The info was there, but totally in paragraph form which did not lend itself to quick research. So this year I'm going with "The Alamanac" which should be delivered digitally in the next week.

That said as far as the predictions, I think BR is probably close to what others will predict; but think they're a bit high on SIU and Indiana St and a bit low on Missouri State and Murray St. But no real complaints.

I bought "The Almanac" too. The Three Man Weave guys know what they're talking about and actually pay attention to mid-majors.

The current Murray State coach has not demonstrated that he can be successful, with his own players, except in the moribund OVC. And that is a fact, not just an opinion.

Oh Dawgbit… bless your heart…

Prohm has had three NBA Lottery Picks in his 11 years as a head coach. Maybe tend your own garden for a bit…

You could go with that take, but then , the same could be said even more so for Mullins at SIU . Prohm has won; Mullins never has.

Totally agree with that statement just don't post that on the current SIU board or you may get a fight going. too many fans remember Bryan as a player and not a coach. In my opinion this is a critical year for Mullins and SIU. right now he is struggling to get a complete non-conference schedule done.

Not really feeling these picks. I'm thinking more:

Drake
Missouri State
Northern Iowa
Bradley
Murray
Southern Illinois
Belmont
Illinois State
Valparaiso
UIC
Indiana State
Evansville

Let's face it, Drake is consensus #1 and Evansville unanimous bottom-feeder. I think the Blue Ribbon predictions give Belmont a tad too much credit. Valley travel is gonna be a different animal.

I think Dana has some things clicking in the Ozarks.

Southern underwhelms me.

Murray will turn heads.

I wish my man Yak the best as the Flames transition. He will get them higher eventually.

Valpo and Evansville are a waste of time.

ISU will have our growing pains, but if Pedon is all he's cracked up to be, we should be a pain in the rear when it comes to St. Louis time with the scrappy lads he's accumulated.

Mullins may well be ready with his team this year; one of the interesting questions for the upcoming season. As is the question for Prohm recapturing his mojo and winning ways at Murray St., life at UNI w/o Green, is Ford more than just a great collector of talent , can Wardle do something before March, which of the newer coaches[ UE/UIC/ ISU's] is ready to ascend and so on. Really interesting year coming for the Valley.

This seems like the hardest year ever to predict the standings. I think Mullins gets it done this year. If SIU is playing on Thursday in March, I think several fans (including myself) will have a much different tone about his future here. I’ll take the excuse about year 3 because it was more like a year 2+ given everyone staying that should’ve been gone. But it’s year 4 now. We need a top 3 finish and hopefully a really legitimate shot at a championship next year. We’ve seen some flashes of a good team, but real progress has to be shown now.

First post and already spewing s**t! I don't know what team you back but welcome to the Valley. I'll be sure to check your picks come March.
