Sorry, the whole “results in four years” and understanding excuses year 3 and needing a top 3 finish are all very familiar to me. Over the last two coaches your key points are almost like a joke to me (internal, nothing to do with SIU).

Eh, sure. I’d bet money SIU finished above Bradley this year. I’d also go as far as saying that I’d bet Mullins has more success long term than Brian Wardle.

I'll take Bradley over SIU, but I think its close.

Rienk Mast is a problem.

Oh, things are heating up. I like it. I'll jump in this pool.
I'll bet pride and bragging rights that SIU finishes ahead of Bradley.

I suppose Bryan Mullins will finish ahead of Brian Wardle eventually - he hasn’t yet. Mullins may eventually finish higher than Barry Hinson did his last season which supposedly wasn’t good enough because he got fired.

In three seasons Mullins has yet to have a better league or overall record than Barry’s final season. Hard to blame the situation Mullins took over when it was actually better than anything he has done to date.

That 3rd place finish was a team full of seniors, which meant Barry’s next team would not have been very good. My assumption is it would have been lower than Mullins’s finish his first year (maybe 5th?)

Sure. You can make that assumption. But there is no evidence to back that up. It's a Pro-Bryan Mullins take.

Mullins needs to take the program into MVC contention these next few years. All are aware, and he will have the chance to show what he can do this year with a pretty veteran team. But please, spare the lame Barry Hinson comparisons. He had plenty of time, and came up short, including going one-and-done in St. Louis with the aforementioned senior-loaded team in his last hurrah ... no need to relitigate.

There is no denying that Mullins needs to take this team to the next level. Winning the MVC, and playing into the post season. He starts his 4th year, but technically his third year of coaching. I personally do not count the Covid year because of the many issues/interruptions. People forget that this is Mullins first head coaching position, he'll learn. Wardle is on his second HC gig, possibly third. That can mean the difference in many aspects of the job.

I did expect that Mullins would have brought more Chicago talent to SIU by now, but it hasn't yet. Hopefully, it will soon.

I don't think Mullins being on his first job is a crutch because you knew that when you hired him. If SIU can't take that next step this year (finishing 2nd in the Valley and definitely making it to at least Saturday in St. Louis), then I'm not sure it's ever going to happen. I'd think he'd be on the hot seat next year with his 6 year contract and needing an extension going into that last year.

Down loaded my digital copy of "The Almanac" today and just browsing it , it puts Blue Ribbon to shame , or at least it's far superior to what I got from BR last year for around $26 and this was $15. It has so many more graphics and lists, is better formatted for easy finding and access to specific info. I'd recommend it highly if you want just 1 preseason guide.
