I get why fans want better home games, but a road win against Oklahoma State or Saint Louis is better than the same win at home; to me this year's schedule is better if we keep the same teams.

I think we're under the assumption that not only will SIU get those home games but they'll improve their overall schedule with good road games as well. I don't think they're locked into any road games as far as I know right now for next year. So I anticipate the schedule being better next year (not that that's hard)

For what it is worth, Murray is in a similar situation with their schedule.

But the desire for home games isn't simply to have a good show for season ticket holders. Home teams win more often than road teams. Its the reason why even the bad P5 teams will pay thousands of dollars to have home games in empty arenas.

That said, scheduling is never easy. Getting home games is expensive and difficult. Its even worse when you think about having to build a schedule years in advance. Has to be a nightmare. I tend to give coaches a pass for the occasional poor schedule, but you can absolutely tell when coaches are trying to pad the schedule.

Our title game is staying in the same spot on CBS. Great news.

11:00 AM-Houston at Memphis

1:10 PM-MVC Title Game

3:30 PM-Big Ten Women's Title Game

With the SEC going exclusive to ESPN in 24-25, they're the ones that lost their spot on that Sunday.

Our deal with ESPN (who sublicenses the title game to CBS) is up after 23-24. I would be shocked if we lost the CBS spot but I'm most interested to see what our new linear ESPN package will look like. They're losing a lot of inventory with the Big Ten leaving and the Big 12 and AAC going more heavily to ESPN+. We're currently at 11-13 linear ESPN games and it would be great if we could get that closer to 20. Might be some room to increase our CBS Sports Net games from 8 as well.

It would be really awesome if we could get something like an ESPN2 MVC game of the week in a regular timeslot, with a regular crew (*cough* Mark Adams *cough).

ESPN would rather get out of college basketball, if they could. They'll add more off-season NFL draft coverage before they give the Valley a game of the week.
