If Missouri State leaves, who do you add?

Discuss the MVC hoops season here.

Hypothetically, who would you replace MO State with?

Lol! You’re counting small private schools? Hell, you’ve lost nearly 50% of your student body in the last few years. SIUe has taken over. You’ll be damn lucky if you’re not playing D2 in the next 5 years with the money you have.

Don't be so harsh. A BIG DANCE invite will remedy that.

Wow awful chippy for a guy from a school we had beat the last 2 years in football and have won 5 straight[ 4 x double figures in basketball]. But hey , you got this years FB win and and about 5 thousand students to prance around like bandy roosters with, so go for it.

In my completely unsolicited opinion, I'm going to call this verbal joust a draw. SIU doesn't have much to stand on in recent athletic success (or certainly from an enrollment standpoint) vs. Missouri State, but Missouri State fans can't expect to have a very vocal contingent of their fanbase running their mouths about wanting to bolt to an FBS league and then get steamrolled all autumn long by their MVC brethren.

Draw. :D

Well I think if you look back, much more has been made about our FBS goals by other Valley members than ever was voiced by MSU fans on this forum. But I agree , when you crow , you often eat it. I can enjoy the banter and some give and take, but it actually is kinda ironic being chided for ambition from your constituents who are always clamoring for ways to get more national respect themselves. Over half of this conference is formed of schools who tried to better their situations by moving up when they got a chance to.

You're on an MVC message board on a thread about your school potentially leaving for another conference. I don't want Missouri State to leave the MVC but if they do, it's not even close to the level of Creighton, Wichita, and Loyola leaving. Very replaceable from an athletics perspective.

Everybody is replaceable ; you're need to dis Missouri State is noted, lol. We've not been a consistent program in MBB , and until recently terrible in football [ although I don't equate FCS football as a major sport for the Valley]. But some food for thought, in the years Missouri Sate has been in the Valley , only 5 times did schools make a final weekend [ FF or College WS] in a major team sport [ mbb, wbb, wvb, sb, baseball,m/w soccer ]. Loyola did once [ Loyola also won a natty in men's vb I believe] Wichita did once, Creighton never did[ although I think both Creighton and WSU made CWS in previous years], and no other current Valley school did either, but Missouri State did 3x. Drake obviously did in basketball in the 60's as a Valley member as did Indiana St with Bird, but I'm just looking at the nearly 30 years Mo St has beena Valley member.. One for Mo St could be questioned as the first FF in WBB was technically in the Gateway Conference, which at the time housed 8 of the MVC WBB teams, despite all being members of the MVC which didn't sponsor wbb till the next year.

So anyway take your little pot shots at Missouri State , we'll survive.

It's interesting that you don't consider FCS football as a major sport for the Valley, but you count soccer? And some others? I guess I get that you are considering that less of our schools are actually in the MVFC. Maybe that is your logic? There probably isn't 10 fans on here know where their women's soccer or volleyball team finished last year (unless they actually won the league), but most public school fans are at least somewhat in tune with the football going on.

The reason I exclude FCS football is that it isn't played against the full spectrum of D-1 schools like other sports. It's amazing what a school like North Dakota State has done , but to me it's like trying to compare what many of the Valley schools did in basketball at the D-2 and NAIA levels as comparable to doing it at D-1. Not the same thing and FCS football isn't the same as FBS nor the same as a d-1 title in another sport. Actually I really tend to think of the Valley as 5 major sports , both basketball , softball, baseball, and volleyball. But even those not everybody plays . Just my own thoughts, certainly not the standard by which to judge. My point was simply, I don't begrudge any other school looking to try to better their situation as they see fit, as almost every school did that to join the Valley. Some seem to however, and have found it a convenient reason to take a few shots at Mo St . Those things are always interesting to see where they lead if one is so inclined .
