I watched the Northwestern vs Illinois game tonight and it was refreshing to see a Floorburn U defense in practice. It was obviously a mistake for SIU to move on from Chris but the Bears could have likely kept him as an assistant for about $1 million per season. Instead, he’s leading Northwestern to an Elite 8 or better performance. The Valley will always suffer as long as they let great coaches escape.

Seek help. This isn't healthy.

If you watched this game, it was clear the Wildcats played a Chris Lowery style of basketball. I don't think there's a chance they would have won this game without his influence throughout the season and on the bench night of the game.

Lowery was offered the Duke job when Coach K retired. He turned them down.

I don't believe that to be true but Duke would have been smart to do so.

In all seriousness, I'd like to see Lowery get a low level mid-major job in the Summit, Horizon, or OVC. It's been 13 years since his SIU firing and he probably deserves another chance at being a HC.

When Lowery went to K-State, you signed up on their board and became a K-State donor. When Missouri St hired Lowery last spring, you posted here that you donated to MO State. Have you donated to Northwestern yet?

Just sent a donation. Have to admire any MVC program that hires strong coaches and strives to win. I remember when SIU didn't celebrate being the 112th ranked team in the country.

FWIW, many on the Northwestern board are crediting the hiring of Chris Lowery for transforming their defense this season. Gotta think his stock is rising.

Like SalukiWorld said, I'd like to see Chris get another chance as a head coach. A lot of time has passed since he was that young kid that got a chance to be a head coach at SIU in his early 30's in 2005. I know he's talked about wanting to be a head coach in interviews with Mike Reis in the last year or so. I'm sure he'd do things a lot differently than he did back then.
