Don't forget Net Ranking is not the first thing used for Tie breakers when there are 3 or more teams. It goes to round robin first.

With the unbalanced schedule, seems like the record of the teams you played should be the #1 tie-breaker.

That’s what the Round Robin is pretty much. The only thing the unbalanced schedule does is give you the tie breaker of the team you beat that you played once.

I don’t think so.
As I am suggesting, if three teams end 14-6, the first tie breaker would be the strength (Conf record) of the 9 teams each played twice. In other words, it hurts you to have avoided a game against top MVC teams. Put another way, if you have an “easy” conf schedule, you are expected to use that to get a better record.

1st tiebreaker is round robin, and goes by Win Percentage even if you didn't play the same number of games. So for an example, I'm going to use Bradley, SIU, and Indiana State as Bradley only plays Indiana State once. Assuming SIU beats Bradley in Carbondale, here's the breakdown:

Bradley vs SIU - 1-1
SIU vs. Indiana State - 1-1
Bradley vs. Indiana State - Bradley 1-0

In this scenario, Bradley is the #1 with a 2-1 record (.666 win %), SIU is the 2 with a 2-2 record (.500 win %), Indiana State is the 3 with a 1-2 record (.333 win %).

It's a huge advantage for the team that wins the 1 game they had to play, especially if they got that game at home.

That is why SIU needs Belmont to be apart of any tiebreaker to come out on top at this point.

Well Drake and Bradley have all but locked up being top 4.

Comes down to SIU, IND St, and Belmont.

SIU has the advantage of tiebreaks here and the fact that Belmont and Indiana State play. Belmont's schedule is rough. They could probably go 0-3. If i was betting right now I would say SIU and Indiana State. Belmont will need to beat Indiana State and find a road win at Drake or UNI. Going to be really tough. I would bet Hacksaws graph today has a clear separation between IND St/SIU to avoid Thursday over Belmont.

1) Bradley
2)Drake
3)SIU
4)Indiana St
5) Belmont

I put SIU over Indiana State because SIU will have the tiebreak over them if its head to head... It will come down to who did better against Belmont.. if both 1-0 it will come down to who did better against Murray or MSU and SIU swept both.

I don't think Bradley and Drake are for sure out of the woods for the bye. Both teams could still easily lose 2 games. Drake still has to play Belmont and @Bradley. Bradley still has to play @SIU and vs. Drake. If Drake and Bradley both win this weekend, then they are probably good to go.

They both really just need 1 more win, hard to imagine them not getting that. I see your point though..

That's inaccurate. They split. So if it's just a tie between SIU and INSU tie breaker is Net Rankings and INSU has higher Net.

They changed it to how you do against the best team in the conference and then work your way down from there. NET is a last resort if working your way down the conference standings and comparing doesn't get a winner. That is accuare.

It's a lot closer to the old tiebreaker system, and I would argue probably a better version of that. If you tie with a team and split the season series with them head to head, you then start at the top of the conference standings and compare each tied team's record against the 1st place team, then the 2nd place team, etc. until the tie is broken.

For example, let's say Drake wins out (wins at Bradley) and wins the conference outright. SIU and Bradley finish in a tie for 2nd place, and split their season series 1-1 (SIU beats Bradley Sunday). You would then start at the top of the standings with Drake and compare Bradley and SIU's records against Drake. SIU went 1-1 in this scenario, and Bradley would be 0-2 against Drake, so tie is already broken and SIU would get the 2nd seed, Bradley gets the third seed.

Basically it's a who did you beat at the top of the conference tie breaker that rewards wins against a "good" team as far as tie breakers go.
