MVC Games Week 2 2023-24

The Aces are not a very good 3 point shooting team but we have a deep bench, have height, can go 6' 11,6 '10" 6' 9" up front with 6'7" and 6'6" backcourt and not lose any talent.Our defense today was excellent, but how good is Ball St.Attendance was over 5000.

Evansville is dramatically improved. That can mean a lot of different things, as it pertains to the MVC standings this year, given the seasons the Aces have had recently. No bold predictions that way.

They are not a matchup you will be able to sleepwalk through anymore, which is what has been in the post-Marty era, for the most part. Just from watching most of their last 2 games, they look pretty tightly connected and committed to competing to build something. At minimum, they will generally be sticky and annoying. If you walk in thinking it will be sweet with them, you may not be able to flip that switch back to on fast enough to win.

At a minimum, it appears that Evansville may supply the conference with Q2-3 games instead of Q4. That can make a difference.

True but when we are scoring 30-40 points each game in the apint 3 are not always necessary. Now if we can carry this momentum into the tourney in Chattanooga against two teams , including one we have beaten before will help.

For Evansville, winning games is what matters. It doesn't matter how good Ball State is or SEMO, or Miami (OH), or Chattanooga, or BYU, or Tennessee Tech, or Cincinnati, or UT Martin, or Bellarmine. The just need to win games.

It's probably better if all of those teams suck and Evansville wins. The Aces won five games last year, if they can better that total during this year's nonconference, it's a victory for everyone.

Based off of their schedule so far, you can't read much into it, but that's ok. They should schedule nonconference games they can win. They don't need to be a top-five MVC team, they just need to avoid being an overall 300+ NET team.

Oakland is not a bad team. They had pretty close losses against both Ohio State and Illinois earlier this season.

DeVries hit a 3 about a minute in, and then didn't make another bucket the rest of the game.

Overton and Wright with 22 each. Wright is now tied with DeVries as Drake's leading scorer.

Brodie was invisible the first 35 minutes, then took over down the stretch.

UNI yall just forget you had this game before B4A or what? Suppperrr long scoring drought and the best defense played was in the last 2:15 of the 2nd. Hopefully coach Jake figures some stuff out before your tourney. Really need UNI to grab some noncon wins

Yeah. That was bad. Bad shooting. And from where I was sitting, Bowen looked tentative and sometimes limping on the drive. I think RJ and Trey are going to get some more time.

It was just bad.

Just incomprehensible to be playing this way after a foreign trip and full of older guys. Just baffling. Oh and Born is obviously more injured than they're letting on.

Beyond not great.
