BU's top recruit - "I'm a Bradley Brave. No matter what."

Postby BradleyBrave » March 1st, 2011, 7:34 pm

This was the response of Bradley's top recruit, Donivine Stewart', to the Peoria Journal Star asking him whether he would consider asking for his release if Jim Les is let go after the season.

His exact words were -

"I'm committed. I'm a Bradley Brave, no matter what happens."

This was only in the print version of the newspaper (I would upload the scanned .pdf/.jpg if I could). I view this as fantastic news, that our top recruit is committed to the university regardless of what transpires after the season ends. Those kinds of commitments to a university seem harder to come by nowadays. This is great news for Bradley!

Good for Bradley.

With each of Drake's last 2 coaching changed (not counting when Keno took over for his dad), Drake had a guy who had made a verbal commitment before the coaching change; and in both cases they still signed with Drake after the coaching change.

It's nice to know there are still kids who are commited to a school, and not to a particular coach.

Yup. Donivine is a great kid, and I am glad he gets to realize his dream by playing at BU.

All Bradley fans should be celebrating this news!

The media guy is a jerk for asking the question, IMHO.
There is no difference between basketball and life. Give both your best and ignore the "fans" on the sideline.

Who is? Remy or Sean Harris? Nate Wells is big but likely to redshirt. I haven't seen any of them play except for Donivine, but he's been the most highly touted throughout HS. Right or wrong, folks in Peoria are going to care the most about him because he's local. All the more reason that this is good news.

Sure, he was projected as a high major talent when he was younger, but Remy is the best recruit today.

Fair enough. I haven't seen Remy play so I don't know.

FWIW, I'd take them both in a second.

I think ISU has a very good PG coming in along with a very athletic 6-3 guard and a 6-4 shooter.

I think the talent at the guard spots are gonna be on the upswing.

Why? Sure seems like Bradley fans here are happy he did. It's a legitimate question.
