Prohm was a proven winner at Murray. His fourth and last season, the Racers won 25 straight games and cracked the Top 25. The Racers lost in the OVC Tournament, and Prohm went on a media blitz trying to get the Racers an at-large bid. Not only did that fail, we got a three-seed in the NIT. So he left for Iowa State.
Now I don't know what happened up there and I understand the point that they crashed in his final two seasons.
Back at Murray, he rebuilt a team with just one returning player (DJ Burns) after McMahon raided the roster and took two starters and our sixth man to LSU. Prohm produced a winning record last year and was over 500 in a much tougher MVC (vs. the OVC). That's good coaching.
Fast forward to today, we've lost two players from last year but most of the scoring is back. I expected a step forward, but clearly that is not happening yet. So it's way too early to call for his head or to question the hire.
