I would argue that there are only a few Valley teams in the last 15 or so years that would go better than 17-3 over a 20-game schedule. I mean, the Loyola final four team was only 15-3 in conference play. Lots of basketball left, but what the Sycamores have done is very impressive. The grueling 20 game schedule is a far bigger factor than any perceived depth issues in my opinion.

2012 Wichita
2014 Wichita
2015 Wichita
2015 UNI
2018 Illinois State
2018 Wichita
2021 Loyola (Big COVID asterisk)

That's probably the entire list from the last 15 years and Wichita was outspending everybody nearly 3 to 1.

I agree with the big Covid asterisk there. With the back to back conference games nobody but Drake could match Loyola’s depth. With that being said, they steam rolled most of the valley and beat a very talented Illinois team by over 10pts in the tourney. That team was legit.

Agreed. That team was legit.
Also, I'm sad to say but, the Valley grind was real, the committee unforgiving, so I am now convinced we're a 1-bid league this year. So close. :(

On the positive side, I feel the overall quality of the league is on an upward trajectory.

In the history of the 64 team tournament no team has ever failed to receive am at large with multiple q1 wins and more q1+2 wins than total losses. If you bring it back to the old way no team with multiple top 50 wins and more top 100 wins than total losses, the statement remains true. If drake wins out and especially if they win out and lose to bradley or isub in STL they would fit in this category. One of you connected drake fans needs to make sire devries and the AD know this and shout it from the roof tops if need be. Long story short, drake is very much in play for an at large.

If Drake wins out in the regular season, this needs to be blasted everywhere.

This seems like a statistical oddity. At the end of the day, what matters is who you've played and who you've beaten. D+ has a win over Nevada who is barely in the tourney and then almost no other team even competing for a bubble bid.

Weren’t the Win’s against Indiana State and Bradley “Quad 1” wins?

Yes, indeed. And regardless of whether they make it, Indiana State is certainly competing for a bubble bid.

Drake and Indiana St are both very suspect. Neither deserves an at large IMO. Would not surprise me to have a longshot MVC tourney winner.

Drake’s out after tonight. Only ISU left with a faint hope.
