What is your source? Still hearing Smithpeters is still Very much in play. I hope it is the Morehead guy but I am still hearing Smithpeters is an option

I believe the report that we're hiring a coach still coaching is accurate based on what I've heard

Just internet rumors? I would like to hear more substantial information still not sure SIU makes the right decision.

I assumed the MVC school that reached out to him would really be MSU. If they hired Petrino, they are not afraid to gamble on questionable characters.

That would be hilarious if Marshall was the one to replace Ford. One of the catalysts of the ILST-WSU Rivalry of the mid-2010s was because Ford left WSU for ILST and brought along "prized recruit" Teddy Hawkins. Didn't sit well with GGG and then led to some heated battles on and off the court.

If Southern fires Mullins just to hire Smithpeters, I'd be pissed as a fan.

Let's be fair, SIU is the school with a history of rehiring abusive coaches from WSU. I believe it was Dana Eickenberg [?} who resigned as SIU WBB HC around 2007 after players accused her and staff of abuse. On that staff was Jody Adams , who later went to WSU as HC , was quite successful till she also was accused of similar and let go at WSU. On her staff at WSU was DE for a time I believe. Then after being dismissed from WSU , Jody Adams was added to the SIU staff by Cindy Stein. And you gotta luv irony, Jody Adams is now the HC at New Mexico St which has served as reclamation site for former WSU coaches it seems [Jans} & some not so successfully [Heiar]

You know who the AD is at New Mexico St., don't you? Former SIU AD Mario Moccia, who also hired NMSU's football coach, Saluki legend, Jerry Kill.

No need to get pissed. It isn't happening.

I mean I'm a Drake fan so I don't really care. However that would be such a laughably lateral move and/or downgrade as to be a joke, considering what Mullins had done with the SIU program to date. Especially with all the roadblocks he faced in terms of facility comparison, changing ADs, and Covid right at the beginning of his tenure.

Glad to hear it's an exciting hire, whoever it is.

Dana Eikenberg came from UMKC, not Shuckerland
