Either way, the Valley has become a low-major conference with no FBS playoff money to help support in this landscape. Time for me to fly.

Yeah, the 9th ranked conference in the country is low-major.

Just got done complimenting Bears fans too.

Look at what happened to every single good player after the season. They all left to go to other conferences. Because it has become a low-major conference. I said this long before today, when Missouri State was still in it. There is now going to be a gulf between the P4's and then to the G5's that at least get a portion of the playoff dollars, then everyone else will be low-majors.

That's what the Valley is now, unfortunately. NIL has made it this way.

First and foremost best of luck to Missouri State. They have said FBS was the goal for a long time, this should not blind side us. They helped lead the last realignment round (i believe prez or AD led expansion comittee) and were a strong driving force in us making the right adds in Murray, Belmont, and UIC. I wish them luck and pull for them if i ever see them in bowl game around holiday season, and i imagine we will still be seeing yall on the hardwood this year. The Bears are certainly irreplacebale in a lot of ways....

Having said that, they are completely replaceable in basketball (i think our bears fans would even conceed this) and inevitably the talk of expansion teams will ensue. I have already made my case for arlington, but another idea i dont hate at all is stay at 11. The bears were a true solid middle of the pack team, but losing a middle of the pack team neither hurts nor helps basketball. On top of that UTA, with their budget and the position they are in now would also just slide in and be a mid pack team. With 11 we could play a true round robin and in some ways mo state was just a landmine for the Drakes, Bradleys, Belmonts, UNIs, and indiana states (though i dont know if the trees can keep it at this level) of the league, good enough to beat them, bad enough to drag their numbers down. Anyway, I am indifferent between UTA and staying at 11 (perhaps slight preference to stay at 11).

They left to get more money. Not because they were in the 9th ranked conference. They're just capitalizing on the same pecking order that coaches have always capitalized on. That doesn't change the pecking order itself.

There is now going to be a gulf between the P4's and then to the G5's that at least get a portion of the playoff dollars, then everyone else will be low-majors.

You're actually grouping CUSA/MAC/SBC with the AAC/MWC in MBB? And you actually believe there will be a gulf in MBB between CUSA/MAC/SBC and the top non-FB leagues? All because they get an extra $1.8 million in CFP revenue (which the vast majority will be reinvested in FB)?

I'm with you.

However, it makes scheduling a nightmare and would require some real creativity to get the scheduled played in the same window.

Yep. 10 teams play on a Wednesday night and 1 gets left out.

How does this make economic sense? I'm not saying it doesn't, but don't non P5 Football programs generally operate at a loss? Has something changed? do they get a bunch of money for just being FBS? If it is some big economic advantage, is there some reason the rest of the Missouri Valley football conference doesn't become FBS?

They left CUSA too... and they were a far worse conference
