MVC Pre-season Tournament’s

I'll believe that Orlando tourney when I see it. The P5s withdrew from almost every tournament last year that involved mid-majors. I assumed they were only going to participate in tourneys with each other now. That tourney would be great, but I can't imagine it happening.

You can only have one team per conference in an MTE. So for any event with more than four teams you are going to have to have non P5 teams in the field.

But, the OP listed two MVC teams in that MTE

UNI will play in the ESPN Events Invitational in Orlando.

Different format this year with 2 4 team brackets instead of an 8 team bracket. All 8 teams get 2 games over 3 days.

Bracket 1: Florida, Minnesota, Wake Forest, Wichita
Bracket 2: UNI, North Texas, St Bonaventure, Utah State

This is probably the format that we're looking at going forward with a lot of MTEs. Access to P5 games keeps shrinking but this is a very good MM field.

The NCAA should just change the rule - especially since leagues keep getting bigger and bigger.

Agreed wholeheartedly. MTE rules have gotten outdated and then they just let the P5 do whatever they want to anyway.

Just go to a 31 game schedule and let everybody do what they want.

Yes. The "you can only go to the same event once every four years" is dumb now too.

If a team wants to do Battle4Atlantis every year - let them. Who cares?

Opens up spots in other events.
