Moats to EKU ?

Reports are saying Mo St AD Kyle Moats will be named as new Ad at Eastern Kentucky today. His son is on staff there and Kyle has deep roots in Kentucky . Not an unpopular decision with many Bears fans as Moats was seen joined at the hip with outgoing President Cliff Smart and assumed to be looking for an exit plan in the next year or so.While Moats did a good job with fund raising and infrastructure , he was not seen as a "man of the people"type AD like his predecessor Bill Rowe , and his failure to deliver a better MBB program during his time with the Lusk era and contract extension being his main albatross . Smart was generally seen , much to many MSU fans chagrin, as making most athletic decisions and Moats being his yes man.

For some the lingering issue will be that Smart and Moats were the drivers for us moving to FBS football, and now both are gone leaving the new Prez and his choice for AD to make it work. As always, should be interesting next couple years.

Done deal; Mo St officially looking for new AD. Who knows, new prez may have a guy he wanted. Anyway, certainly not a move fans hate.

Regardless , a move that whether it results in inspired organizational change or not, needed to happen. Moats and Smart did some really good things with facility development , fund raising etc, certainly important. But whether in combination or simply by giving in, Moats let Smart dictate too many athletic decisions, and while a good business man, Smart was like most meddling owners , not a good GM.
