Obviously the level of play at the Nordic U20 Championships isn’t amazing but Bradley’s Almar Atlason was the best player there and led Iceland to a 4-0 record. Atlason averaged 28.3 PPG in the tournament.

Quality shooter, but needs to do more imho; 1.7 rbs in almost 20 mpg and not much defensively. But he can shoot , and that's a good thing.

Of course.

That said - I think sometimes as fans we devalue bench guys who return to the league while overvaluing transfers in. If an MVC team got an All-Freshmen guy from say, the A10, they would be really pumped about the addition. New guys are NEW - so we haven't seen any flaws.

Anyone else have players or incoming recruits playing in the U20 Eurobasket?

Bradley's Atlason is repping Iceland in the upper division.

Also, incoming Bradley recruit Timoty Van Der Knaap is playing for Italy, as is incoming Ace Gabriel Belfort Pizzotto.

Almar Atlason is averaging 13.7 points on 4.3-15.7 shooting (3-9 from 3), 4 rebounds and 1.7 assists in 28.7 minutes.

Van der Knaap is averaging 3.3 points in 10 minutes.

Evansville's Pizzotto is averaging 3.7 points and 2 rebounds in 9.6 minutes.

Almar's 13.7 points is tied for 12th in the tournament, a spot shared with Vangelis Zougris of Greece, who was named one of the standout players of the first round.

Also, it's worth noting that Almar only had 4 points in the opener in a huge overall mismatch with Lithuania, starting the tournament 0-11 and 0-5 from 3, before connecting on his 6th 3-point attempt.

Iceland and Italy both lost yesterday and enter the 9-16 placement bracket. Iceland did nearly upset Belgium, but could not convert on 3 possessions in the final 12 seconds. Almar had a solid game and led Iceland with 19 points, but missed a 6-foot fadeaway on the second chance, but Belgium touched the ball last on the out-of-bounds with 1.6 to go, and Iceland turned it over on the final inbound and Belgium held 74-73.

Iceland is now underway against Serbia, who was upset by Czech Republic yesterday, who lost all 3 of their group stage games.

Gabriel Pozzatto had a monster game, with 33 points and 4 steals in 24 minutes, as Italy rolls 92-70 over North Macedonia. Timoty Van der Knaap DNP and has had minutes limited in a couple games, so wondering if he is dealing with an injury issue.

Atlason is now tied for 3rd in scoring for the entire tournament at 16 ppg after today's loss to Serbia. Almar had a big game himself, with 20 points, 4 blocks, 4 assists and a steal.

Off day today.

Almar Atlason, in addition to sitting 3rd in scoring is also 3rd in blocked shots among all players.

16 ppg, 3.8 reb (0.6 offensive), 2 bpg, 1.8 apg, 0.4 steals, 3.8 TO in 31.2 minutes per game. Shooting 31.9% from 3.

Gabriel Pozzato is averaging 8.8 points, 1.6 reb (0.4 offensive), 1 steal, 0.8 apg, 0.2 bpg, 1.6 TO in 11.3 minutes. Shooting 52.5% overall (37.5% from 3).

Timoty Van der Knaap is averaging 2.5 points and 2 rebounds in 8.7 minutes. He is usually a 10-20 minute guy and has 2 games of 4-5 minutes where he DNP second half and a DNP for a complete game, so he may be dealing with a minor injury.
