It's nothing more than potential.

Any add is based on potential because no expansion candidate is coming from a better situation. Winning the Horizon League tournament doesn't change that in the slightest.

I'm really, truly not trying to insult those of you who support former Horizon League members, but that league is closer to the Summit League than it is the MVC.

Not insulted. For me, it’s not about supporting Horizon League members. It’s about looking at or vetting a program that has progressed to a point where it’s realizing its potential. Arlington has potential. Milwaukee has potential. Neither program has developed consistency, however, which is integral in realizing potential.

Also, Belmont & Murray St. came from a better situation? The OVC?

I agree with TylerDurren on this one. Last time the MVC took a promising candidate from the HL that was well know for winning the HL tournament, that team took an immediate nose dive it has not since recovered from.

Comparing Valpo and everything that comes with it (alumni, market, facilities, etc.) to Northern Kentucky is wild.....

NKU is a no-brainer.

Actually staying at 11 is a no brainer until there is an obvious candidate like the last round.

You quoted the wrong guy here.

I certainly didn't compare Valpo to NKU in the way you're describing. But even if I did and being familiar with what comes with NKU vis-a-vis Valpo, NKU still isn't a no-brainer.

My point was simply that winning the Horizon League tournament isn't something that means you're realizing your potential or that would elevate a school to being a no-brainer addition to the MVC. NKU (or anyone) looking better on paper than Valpo is the bare minimum the Valley should be requiring for consideration.

Lunardi attributed Indiana St missing the tournament to "incredible bad luck" and listed the same things some of us have posted here. He mentioned there were 5 bid thieves and that the average is typically 1.5.

Strongest bubble in recent memory and chaos in the league tournaments. Just nothing anybody could do about it. Let's hope somebody else can put a year together like that one this year and the law of averages should be in our favor.
