I think the MVC champion will be ranker higher than the Mountain West some years and higher than the WCC champion most years now that they won't have Gonzaga. Playing multiple games against a top 10 rated team, even when losing, has done a lot to raise the RPI/NET rankings for the WCC teams over the years. They won't have that lift anymore.

11/12 seed instead of a 12/13 seed in the NCAA tournament definitely increases our chances at getting a win.

So still waiting for confirmation about Texas State, a real answer for NIU and Toledo, an 8th member for the MWC, and an Pac-12 an as well as maybe another football only school on top of that.

If Texas State confirms then at a minimum 1 more school to move to either of these conferences not to mention any back fill with the SBC, CUSA, WCC, or MAC.

All of the consolidation will probably hurt us in seeding even with a higher ranked conference.

We're going to be better than the Mountain West consistently and somewhere around 7th overall but that isn't going to get us any more bids or any better seedings.

It's all baked in at this point.

UTEP is reportedly finalizing their deal with the Mountain West. I wonder how MO ST feels now that they are joining a crumbling conference...

As for the rankings. Its hard to say. I could see a world where this benefits the Valley, but I can see an equally likely reality that this hurts the Valley in seeding. As for getting us a second bid, I don't see that happening. These teams are ultimately going to get more guaranteed Q1 games from this, and they aren't going to want to schedule games with the Valley for that potential Q2+ loss.

They probably feel fine.

Once you understand the potential money in college football, you understand the decisions.

Feeling pretty good actually. UTEP was a geographic outlier and bad at most things so I think the CUSA fans are not distraught at seeing them go. (Ya, I know most of you feel that way about MO State). Hosting SMU out of the ACC in football next year. Things will be fine. Glad to at least have a seat at the table. Seems like the P4 schools are doing their best to close the window for FCS teams to move up. Seems like the move was made at precisely the right time. Conferences are changing and will continue to change. The Valley hasn't exactly been immune to that either. Who knows where the Bears will be in 10 years but I'm sure glad it's at the FBS level.

You don't really have a seat at the table.

You are sitting at the kiddie table, get fed the leftovers of the leftovers, and are obligated to say, "Thank you!"

The money potential still makes it worth the move, but let's not pretend that you suddenly have equal footing.

Oh football money is king, but having a stable conference is what gets you that money. I don't believe these broadcasting agencies will be too keen to give out the big bucks for G5 conferences if they cannot show a stable member base and can put out a high level of talent. Going back to the Toledo and NIU argument. A major reason for considering an invitation for football only is because that MWC media deal is exponentially better than the MAC deal. Even with the MAC and the MWC both being FBS conferences.

No it's not. It's having the appropriate football inventory for television windows that networks want to fill.
