Love Rezynezy’s passion for Valpo. Wish there were 4k Rezynezys at Valpo’s games and a thousand Rezynezys traveling to STL in Valpo attire. Can we get whatever AI created Belmont to clone a few thousand Rezynezys at Valpo?

Unfortunately, that backs Drake into a corner where they might have to win the Kansas St game to recoup the quality win they thought they had.

At least Vandy will become a quality win. Miami is just not a good team, very undisciplined and WAYY too much hero ball as evidenced in the game vs UT last night

Every time Valpo does something productive. You seem to be the first to come on here and say "Well actually thats not good at all". Just say you hate Valpo and move on buddy. You could also come after Evansville for a lot of the same reasons that you come after Valpo for, but time and time again, your only beef is with VU.

You lost to Drake on your home floor. Spin that how you want. But to answer your question, no they did not "take Drake to the final buzzer." They lost by 6 after never holding the lead for the final ~30 minutes of the game. No buzzer beater or defensive stop required "at the buzzer." But if you want a participation trophy for not folding up and losing by 30, then don't let anything stop you.

I've come after Evansville plenty because I feel the same way about them as I do Valpo. You like to compare Valpo to Evansville - which is appropriate because you're occupying similar space.

This is Valpo's 8th season in the league and they've managed to have zero winning league seasons. They are 43-88 (.328) - only better than your favorite comp team (28-103) in the same time frame.

I've said what I think on multiple occasions: Valpo doesn't belong in the MVC. They don't have the institutional stability, facilities or capacity. They belong in a lesser league. I know that bothers you, but it's all true.

But hey, I'm all ears if you have a compelling case as to why I'm wrong about Valpo belonging in this league.

This league jumps to 8th in the NET if you take out Valpo and Evansville.

They simply aren't institutional fits and shouldn't be playing in this league. Bradley and Drake got scared of football and panic added Valpo when Wichita left. Had that been Murray, like it should have been, we would have had several more NCAA units and a national stage during the Ja Morant years. You still add Belmont when Loyola left and we don't have to go down the UIC rabbit hole.

The Valpo add was so bad that it's take 3 additional schools to cover it.

There used to be 5k+ RezyNezys. In fact. I would say that Rezynezy was a member of the 5k+ rather than the source. I grew up on this team. Remembered getting tickets to HL tournaments each year because VU hosted the tournament in the ARC. Capacity crowds were once the norm. Not the exception. Valpo used to regularly take over rival venues. Ask any UIC member and they can attest to that. Or a UW-Panthers fan. The passion in Powell's voice in that press conference you mentioned comes from a very, very, real place. I remember being a starry eyed 10 year old kid at those games. Watching Bryce Drew snap a clipboard over his knee in frustration over a foul mere seconds before Ryan Broekoff hits a game winning fade away 3 to send Cleveland St packing. I remember helping my father run the local special Olympic basketball tournament as the then Crusaders were about to leave for New York to play in Madison Square Garden, being extra sure that my VU jersey was signed by every member of that roster. Now tattered, Faded, and taking on a slightly neon hew strangely(I don't know why). that jersey still sits in my dresser. Collecting dust, much like the team has been in recent years.

Valpo was a good add at the time. Keyword at the time. They were a powerhouse in the HL at that point and were a semi-regular face in March, multiple NIT appearances including an NIT runner up, other invitational bids, and had multiple regular season titles under their belt in the HL. So if you are going to sit here and jaw jack at me about how VU was a panic signing because Wichita left, and not make a single comment about how UIC, a middling HL team with a worse resume than VU, whose most recent accolades pre valley were CBI and CIT appearances? I'm going to call you out on it, because that's Horse hockey and you know it.
Do I think Valpo should have left the HL, god no. Drew was a known shopper for a few years before he left for Vandy, I don't think they should have left given the concerns surrounding the HC office, especially when they didn't do their due diligence in finding a replacement that could play to valley standards, but they certainly weren't this massive pile of dog droppings that people are so quick to claim when they were asked to join. We get it, you don't like the gym and promises were made to fix it that werent met, but its an old joke at this point. The ARC sucks, deal with it. Also, dont give me this crap about how much this conference jumps in the NET if you take out this, or add this. You can make that case with just about every high level Mid Major conference. So unless there are plans to make the Mid Major Dumpster League anytime soon where these conferences can throw their garbage. That argument isn't worth the keyboard presses it took to make it. Find me another team with Valpo's resume in 2017 that could be on the Valley's radar.
Its almost like you folks expected to find another team that was Wichita's caliber to fill their shoes, but anyone with 2 rocks to smack together could have told you that you weren't going to find that. Valpo was a good team with a solid mid major resume to back them up, but if you expected them to be Wichita St? Then please send me the address to your local dispensary because I need some of that stuff.

I know this is going to piss of TylerDurren even more but once Drew moved on, the replacement just couldn't compete to the standard that the Valley needed. Lottich was probably the worst coaching decision the school could have made. With all the success of the early 2010s, and the move to a more competitive league. They had the opportunity to find someone much better than Lottich, and they blew it. Couple that with the school itself taking a nose dive, and you are put into a situation where you have a not so great coach, and no way to get rid of him because who is going to want to coach that program with the current state of the team and the school. Its why I agree with our beat writer in saying that Powell came back because this is where he wants to be. Valpo didn't choose him, he chose Valpo.

P.S. if you think you are going to get an apology for this rant save it. The only one here who deserves one is ChuckA. And only because I had to trash on UIC for this post.

I literally said 'we wouldn't have had to go down the UIC rabbit hole' in the post that set you off.

Everything you said is right and it sucks that Bryce Drew walked out the door on you but that has nothing to do with the institutional fit.

I truly understand why you get upset when I, or anyone else, says Valpo doesn't belong.

I also understand why you feel like you have to defend, rationalize, stretch the truth, and exaggerate reality to provide support for your position. I appreciate your emotional and sentimental connection to your school. That's what drives college sports. It's why when people rant about NIL or transfers or whatever, they stick around. A person's school is a part of who they are. That's awesome.

It's not your fault that Valpo is in the league, but they were a panic add. They weren't a good fit at the time any more than they are now because they simply don't have the institutional capacity.

Your own rant supports that position. The facilities suck. They lied about plans to make them better. They couldn't hire a coach outside of the Drew family. They didn't have the resources to get rid of a bad coach. The school itself is in decline.

On-court success in a lesser league isn't a reason to add a school. You keep beating that drum, but you aren't playing Youngstown State any more. No more Detroit Mercy. Cleveland State isn't walking through the door. It's fools gold because you were playing a bunch of schools who were invested at the same level you were.

For adds, you need sustainable fundamentals. Valpo doesn't have them and hasn't had them. No one was looking for Wichita State. Everyone knew they didn't exist. But we didn't need a second Evansville. But just so we're clear, Evansville has better fundamentals than Valpo. Loyola wasn't Creighton either, but they had good fundamentals and virtually zero on-court success since the 1960s.

Just like you have emotional attachment to Valpo, folks who have been here for a while feel the same way about their own school and the league. We also understand that the shifting landscape in college athletics threatens the viability of the league. The last thing we needed was another anchor.

That's what pisses me off.

So stop being sensitive when I ask Valpo to win their damn nonconference home games. That's the least they can do if we all have to suffer because the MVC AD council made a bad decision.

Calling me sensitive is a pot and kettle argument and there certainly wasn't any stretch of the truth to embolden previous claims. You have time and time again moaned and groaned about Valpo to the point of beating a dead horse. It seems to be the only team you take such intense issue with. You are the only that constaly has something to say avery time Valpo comes into the conversation and franky its annoying. You just have a superiority complex when it comes to the MVC. By your reasoning. Any add add this point is coming from a league you view as lesser. Hate to break this to you, but the AAC or the A-10 arent interesting in the valley and their condtituents arent either. And discounting an NIT runner up just because they were in the HL is a joke. The NIT is still a competative field against decent teams. I don't have an issue with anyone else, but you seem to just plain hate valpo despite how much you don't want to admit it. Also the issue with valpo being a declining institution is a good point, but once again. Yoy fail to take into account the multiple other valley schools who are also in states of decline. Mostly the constituents who are private, faith based institutions. So quit singling out one specific school when there are other schools with skeletons in the closet

The Drew’s were working under different rules in regards to getting players admitted - especially foreign players. It isn’t a coincidence that once that went away the talent had as well.
