Good article: Kyle Weems loyal to MSU despite "recruitment"

Good to see that Weems has remained loyal to Missouri State when the opportunity existed for him to head elsewhere for his senior season, particularly considering Cuonzo Martin's departure. I imagine the reigning MVC POY will be the pre-season pick for the award again although he will be forced to carry a larger load than he did this past year.

As a fifth-year senior on pace to possess an undergraduate degree before fall classes begin, Weems could transfer to another D-I program and not sit out.

Word spread quickly about the availability of the Missouri Valley’s reigning player of the year.

Kansas and Kansas State expressed interest. So too did California and Oregon. Another possibility was Tennessee after Cuonzo Martin left Missouri State and headed to the SEC. Weems even fueled speculation he may tag along when he wore an orange shirt to the Bears’ postseason banquet.

If schools contact Weems directly then it is against the rules. But as long as Weems starts the contact between him and another school, it is fine. I have a feeling KState and the likes got a hold of his AAU or HS coach and passed along a message and a number to call them back at.
