The thing that people have to tacke into account is that this would be a long term decision, sure some of these schools aren't great right now but schools like North Texas and the Dakota schools have immense potential down the line. It would be a great women's basketball and volleyball league from day one too.

If the Catholic League happens, and that's a big if, it may not reach the Valley at all. If it does, even bigger if, we would potentially lose just Creighton. I don't want to lose the Jays, they obviously bring a lot of value to the conference, but I don't see how that sparks a complete disentegration of the MVC. This conference has weathered the storm over the years, losing Cincinatti, Louisville, Memphis, Tulsa, and many more. The conference will survive and adapt.

Okay what if it happens like this.

1. CU leaves for Cathlic league. Starts instability because they are an important part of the mVC.
2. Illinois State and SIUC get invited to MAC. Let's say in 2017 or 2018.

These are going to destabilize the Valley. I think the Valley will survive but I think by 2020 or so, it will be upper MIAA teams like Central Missouri, Washburn, Pitt State, Mo Western, and Northwest Missouri that are leading the charge. I think in 15-20 years the MVC will be made of up and coming schools that are probably D2 schools in 2011. Just my two cents.

This is obvious. I spent sometime playing with what I think Conference USA will look like in a couple years. I think most of the west will go to the Moutain West and UCF, ECU will go to the Big East. It would be a 16 team conference with 12 football schools. Drake football doesn't count for this as they are in the Pioneer League or something. Here they are:
Missouri State
Wichita State
Troy
Drake
Marshall
Southern Miss
Western Kentucky
Louisiana Tech
North Texas
North Dakota State
South Dakota State
Oral Roberts
Middle Tennessee State University
Northern Iowa
Arkansas Little Rock
Arkansas State

It would be a developmental football league, but would be dynamite in the other sports. We could rotate the basketball tournament from Springfield, Wichita, Fargo, Little Rock, etc. Travel could be rough but it looks like a pretty darn good conference to me.

Dear god, I think it should be a Missouri State law that you aren't even allowed to manage a fantasy football league.

This abomination of a conference should never leave this thread...the fact that Casey vomited this horrid creation on the internet ensures that I will not be able to sleep comfortably for several days... :Bam:

That conference could probably compete with the MEAC or Sun Belt.

First off, the MEAC is an FCS conference and a terrible one at that in my opinion. I would put money down that UNI, NDSU or SIU (pick one I dont care) would win either one of those conferences more easily than the MVFC. Florida International is the only team in the Sun Belt that I think could beat one of those teams consistently. The conference I see above is a big step down for the MVFC in my opinion namely because there are some really really crappy programs listed up there. We're talking sub-Missouri St. crappy.

I have to disagree. Middle Tennessee State and Troy are excellent football programs too. FIU is great, but there are others that would give this conference clout in football. This conference would be top notch in a matter of years in virtually all sports and I think if someone was to honestly break this down they would conclude the exact same thing.

As a Shocker fan, I want NOTHING to do with that conference.

I've sat down and tried to come up with a list of schools that would make a decent conference if a big shakeup happened. As hard as I try, I can't find anything realistic that approaches the quality and depth of schools we currently have in the MVC. We have room to grow and work to be done when it comes to scheduling, but when you start talking schools like Middle Tennessee State and Troy as viable options, I get very nervous.

All the Valley added were a bunch of no money spending, Division 2 programs in the 90s, so I don't see how the next round would be any different.

Whatever happens if CU were to happen to bolt, the Valley will be weaker, much weaker than it is today, just like the last time we added teams, and the time before that.

The D-2 comment aside, what do you mean by "no money spending?" Last I checked, UE, MSU, and UNI have the 3 newest arenas in the league and have comparable athletic budgets to the other schools in the conference.
