Drake picks up juco PG--Richard Carter

Postby DUBulldog » October 1st, 2011, 9:36 pm

Richard Carter, point guard from Cloud County CC in Kansas has commited to Drake, according to multiple tweets tonight (Eric Bossi, Scout, etc).

Carter was conference Freshman of the Year last season, and first team all-conference, 2nd team all-region. Originally from Detroit.

Interesting. He was scheduled to be at CU this weekend along with another juco G (Bobby Hatchett) but those visits were canceled after the Yates commitment.

I hadn't found a whole heck of a lot on him in my research but frosh of the year in a Kansas juco league is a very good sign.

The Valley of Death needs to resurface and it starts with recruiting!

I had heard that Carter visited Drake last weekend, then was going to visit Creighton and make a decision soon. I was pretty relieved when you guys got the commit from Yates.....I knew that definitely increased Drake's chances of landing Carter.

If Phelps can keep Rayvonte Rice from transferring after this season, the Bulldogs look pretty solid for 2012-13. In order to keep Rice around, they probably need to show significant improvement this season.
