Since I picked WSU to win the league, I went with Coach Marshall.

Love or hate tying Coach of the Year with the winner of the league, I figure with a lot of parity around the top of this league, the coach that can navigate their team through to the crown should end up with the award (at least this year).

I voted for Les as a type of Lifetime Achievement Award for consistently finishing in the top half.

Waaaaaaaay too early for me. At least three teams come to mind that could be on top this year. I'll wait until AT LEAST half way through the season before doing this. It seems like wasted effort to try to pick a "Coach of the Year" before the year even starts. Obviously, this season better start soon or we are going to have to conduct mass therapy sessions.

You could say the same exact thing for every preseason poll. We do it anyway.

Not entirely true. Usually, that would be the case, but strange things can happen. Should Wichita State win the league (or any of the other top four picks) and Evansville surges to finish second or third with winning league record, my vote would go with Marty.
There are three rules that I live by, never get less than 12 hours sleep, never gamble with a guy who has the same first name as a city and never get involved with a chick with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Stick to that and everything else is gravy!

For the moment, I'm going with the winner of the Valley since it's going to be a slugfest, however, if a surprise team like what you mention finishes far above expectations, then that should be very much a cause for voting that direction too.

Personally, I hate tying the award to the winner of the Valley, but in this case for preseason, I'm going to tie it to who I'm picking for the winner of the league.
