FOY: Doug McDermott (sorry UNI fans - rumor is that he's been killing it early on)
NOY: Gregory Echinique (I don't think this one will be close)

POY: I have no idea. Get back to me when we know the conference champ. Since this award rarely goes to the best player in the league, this award has lost most of its cache to me.

Looks like fairly unbiased submissions so far.

I don't think that is really all that surprising for FOY and NOY. The fact of the matter is that most fans probably don't know much about newcomers on teams other than their own. Of all the categories, these two are probably the hardest to predict because nobody has seen these kids play in any MVC games (transfers at least have some experience at the D1 level) - everyone is just making a guess based on the limited information they have, which, not surprisingly, will tend to skew toward the team they support.

Having said that, I feel pretty good about the Echinique prediction. FOY, on the other hand, I truly have no idea....

Frankly, I don't know every freshman or newcomer from each team so I'd like for the respective fan bases to let me know who their school has and who we should watch for when the season begins.

I realize that CU and UNI are going to sweep all the awards, and while the Jays and their new, below .500 in conference coach are 50/50 to win the NCAA Tournament, it appears the Panthers are only poised to make an Elite 8 run this year.....championships probably in the next 3 (if, that is, they can beat Creighton).

It is possible that since Echenique will win National Player of the Year, they just might consider bypassing him at the Valley level for individual awards.

Given that possibility, I will throw out Joe Ragland for NOY. The Shocks have no 1st year freshmen, so Joe is probably our only nominee.
