During the 20 seasons since UNI joined the MVC in 1991-1992, UNI has ranked last or next to last in average attendance 15 out of 20 years.

That is correct. It is important to note that most of those teams were pretty bad, and UNI had little basketball tradition to build off of during those years.
Its also interesting to note that UNI's poor attendance during many of those early years was right along-side with what Creighton's attendance was. Creighton didn't finish higher than 7th in attendance in any season until 2001, and they were often in the bottom two in the 1990's. Pre Qwest-Center, CU's numbers are almost identical to what UNI has produced.

You have tradition now, so what is the excuse? During WSU's lean years in the 90's they still averaged over 7,000 fans a game. UNI has been good for over 5 years and have won conference titles along with a sweet 16 run, you should be filling the arena for in state rivals and top level conference teams.
