Very true, but just because it happened to WSU doesn't mean it's going to happen elsewhere. If you want to keep playing what if's, does Turgeon bolt if WSU doesn't tank in 07?

UNI does more with less than anyone in the country. As a UE fan, I must say I'm a little envious of what they can do with a simliar sized budget. I think it would be pretty scary if UNI had the same budget as the WSU and Creighton's of the world.

You made my point for me. What does UNI do when, not if, Jake leaves? Will they fall into the abyss and what will the attendance numbers be then? What other sport will they need to cut?

We will probably fall deep into the abyss just like last time we lost our coach to a BCS school. We are still trying to recover from that catastrophe.

So UNI is just going to keep hoping that they will find a coach who will take less than market value and with little fan support? Hope that works out for you, but lighting rarely strikes a third time.

Things worked out ok for them last time a coach left. Will they strike gold again? Who knows? Donors stepped up with money to sign Jake to a long term deal a few years back. UNI Basketball will be fine.

Again, all you keep saying is what if? what if what if? What if Jake stays and UNI is the next Butler? We can play this game all day long. UNI has had a great run as of late. There fans, however many of them there are, should enjoy it.

"less than market value"--incorrect, as I already pointed out.

Fans like yourself have been predicting the demise of UNI for quite some time now. Its the same story every year.

I'm quite comfortable and confident with how we are doing things with our basketball program. We win a lot of games, we have a built a brand new arena, we have a fantastic coach, great student athletes, and we are a profitable and very successful program, thank you very much for your concern.

What worries me is the financial situation of the UNI athletic program as basketball should be funding most if not all of your other sports. Very few sports in college can provide enough money it generates to cover just that sports expenses.

So what's your point? You want to kick one of the most sucessful programs over the last decade out of the conference? Good luck with that.

Does anyone have a link or know what each school in the Valley pays their coaches?

No, it just seems like UNI is playing with fire and when Jake decides to leave they won't have the financial backing to get an up and coming coach. I like UNI and the Valley, but also want to see each school supported especially when the play on the floor/field deserve it.

People will always find something to complain about. If UNI was selling out all the time, there would be complaints that we didn't build the McLeod large enough and we are cutting ourselves off and holding back the conference in attendance numbers because of it. I can't imagine all the bitching that would be going on if we were losing games.

I know this, I will be in attendance at every game the rest of the year and I will be in St. Louis. I am taking my daughter to Arch Madness for the first time this year, its looking like it will be a heck of a competitive tournament. She is a third-generation UNI fan and knows of rooting for no other teams. Unlike myself, she has been able to grow up watching UNI games on TV and not having to settle for Iowa or Iowa State games. She intends to attend UNI and even wants to work in the AD in some capacity.

How can you say we wont have enough money to hire another good coach when we already pay our coach more than the majority of the the other Valley schools? We have already proven that we can pay.
