Can someone please post a youtube link to the last 19 seconds?

I've watched the replay about 10 times and cannot see conclusive evidence of Rank traveling. He did take one dribble immediately after catching the ball, but three MSU players block the view.

You don't see the relevance of a turnover with 22 seconds left when your team has a one-point lead?

MSU had the ball and a 1-point lead with 45 seconds left. There were several possible outcomes at that point:
1) Let the shot clock expire and give UNI the ball with 10 seconds left
2) Get fouled. 1 FT makes it a 2-point game - a layup ties. 2 throws and it takes a 3 to tie.
3) Score a 2-point basket. Then just defend the 3-point arc.
4) Score a 3-point basket. Game over.
5) Miss a shot late in the shot clock. UNI has 10-12 seconds and MSU has the lead.
6) Give the ball back to UNI with a significant amount of time on the clock.

Only option 6 gives UNI anything resembling a decent chance to win the game. Every other option probably gives MSU a 75% chance of winning the game. Option 6 is the only possible situation that gives UNI a 40%+ chance of winning.

All that's missing is the limitations on your possible sequences.

This is the only time in history Casey is right.

I didn't see this game as I spent a few hours at the Draft House on 180th and Pacific Street. That said, Casey is never right.

Come on John even a broken clock...

Hard to laugh on a losing night like this one but I will try. I checked panthernation and even the majority of UNI fans could not believe the no call. Win some, lose some.

A lot of no calls in this game prior to the last play with Bizoukas two-arm shove to the chest of Koch and driving him into the scorers table the most blatant. But on the last play alone the refs could have called defensive hip-checking, travel on Koch, hack on the arm on the pass to Rank, travel on Rank, foul on any of three Bears who were bodying Rank, possible 3 second call (I didn't keep track of time and will have to look at that). In the end, they make any of the preceding calls and somebody is gonna be bitching about it. They chose not to call anything and allow the Bears to be physical on defense without being punished while allowing the Panthers an attempt to make a play. UNI had to make an off-balance, prayer of a shot.

Another head-scratcher is after the basket that the Bears players didn't immediately call timeout to set up a last second shot and instead quickly inbounded and chucked a desperation shot.

All in all a heck of a Valley game. Two teams slugging it out. Now three straight contests decided by a point between the two (and 4 of the last 5).

I honestly didn't see the game, nor have i seen replays, but I don't have a lot of confidence in your analysis. actually, I have no confidence in your analysis. I read you for a laugh. Not even a clever laugh, just a laugh. I promise to review the game later tonight, as I just raked in $70 of Girl Scout Thin Mints. I will give a serious answer in the morning.

As for you trying to get a laugh, yep, Panther Nation is always good for a few chuckles.
There are three rules that I live by, never get less than 12 hours sleep, never gamble with a guy who has the same first name as a city and never get involved with a chick with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Stick to that and everything else is gravy!

Panthers got away with one there. As Kahn pointed out, there were a myriad of calls that could have been made on that last sequence, but the refs let 'em play. There could have easily been a travel call, and there could have easily been a foul call. But I certainly don't blame MSU fans for being pissed, I would be if it happened to us.

Really great game though. Missouri State has a really good basketball team, hard to believe that they lost so many non-conf games. Great atmosphere in Mcleod tonight as well.

While we are complaining about no calls......Will Weems ever get called for a travel or a push or an illegal screen one of these times?

Lusk said he told one of the refs, during the last stoppage of play, that he wanted a TO if UNI scored in finals seconds and that ref nodded, ie, understood. TO not granted. Weird. Thot refs were off their game a good part of the night, imo. But Bears had excellent chances to sew this one up, didn't complete the deal.

This.

Not a smart decision. As a senior and player with a supposed high basketball IQ, Weems needs to understand this situation and call a timeout. Instead he immediately inbounds the ball to Bizoukas who throws a 3/4 court shot which misses by 20 feet.

Lusk also should have instructed the players during the last timeout what to do if UNI makes a shot with very little time left.
