When did Evansville leave the Valley?

"I just want to play as hard and as well as I can and maybe we will have a chance to win the conference," said Harris.

I wonder how Evansville would do in the other Valley - the OVC? I bet they could beat Murray on a given night.

I, for one, appreciate and respect the effort and preparation UE puts into the games, and I don't dismiss out of hand their talent and ability to compete.

That being said, this WSU team has higher goals and have also put a lot of hard work and preparation, for many years, to get to this point. I hope they don't blow their status tonight against a team they've won 15 of 18 against.

The comments on this string are prime examples of why WSU and their fans are the most disliked in the conference, hands down. I guess the Aces may as well just not make the trip to Wichita....since, according to some posters, UE is not in the same league. Maybe these same fans remember us bursting the Shockers' bubble in years past.

Hmmm, I must be reading the wrong thread? Remember, every fan base has their share of imbeciles.
Society is filled with imbeciles. EU has imbeciles... WSU has imbeciles... we have a plethora of imbeciles in Washington running our country. You're an imbecile, I'm an imbecile... hell, we're all imbeciles.

I don't think that helps UE's chances - or even the point spread. The Shox have shown that when they're missing a key player, they are more focused.

I don't think that is true at all. I think what is true is that the Shockers are just better when Stutz is out.

The Shox have won 15 of the last 18 times they've played Evansville. That includes Marshall's first year when WSU only had 6 scholarship players in April when Marshall arrived.

This year, UE was picked around 4th or 5th in pre-season polls and that's about where they're going to end up - and this is one of UE's best years in recent memory.

15-3. WSU has dominated the Aces. Depending on whether the teams met in St. Louis - that's 6 - 9 years worth of games. That goes back to when Colt Ryan was in junior high. That type of domination will create a feeling of superiority in a fan base.

I understand the basis for your comment.

While I was reading the posts, I detected more than just a touch of hubris from my Shocker co-fans.

Under Coach Simmons, Evansville has always been a tough out (mixed metaphor) for the Shockers. The players always play hard and aggressive for him. Wins over Evansville are seldom easy. Coach Simmons probably gets more out of less than any other coach in the league.

The Shockers are quite capable of self annihilation. Remember the SIU debacle at home in 2011.

My suggestion is this. Under promise and over deliver. Or saying it another way, modest predict rather than grandiose predict.

The Shox typically self destruct when they overlook an opponent. We almost blew it in Evansville so i assure you, the Shockers will come out focused and ready to put this one away early. Unless the Aces just light it up from 3, I don't see them hanging around this time. Shockers by 20+.

Going into the season, I said the 3 teams we don't matchup well with are CU, WSU, and ISU(r). Their size and athleticism cause severe matchup problems for us. With or without Stutz, that doesn't change, this is a horrible matchup for us. Stutz absolutely looked like a man among children in the first matchup, so if nothing else, if he doesn't play, it would serve as a confidence boost for the Aces. Either way, this game boils down to WSU, if they play good, they'll win....if they don't then there's a chance of a good game. I do expect UE to compete hard and leave everything on the court, I just don't see it being enough, hope I'm wrong.
