I don't know why we had to sacrifice quality for quantity. It's not like any other conference had more to offer for TV games...

for the MVC yes but for the bb as a whole?

Matching up the two highest ranked teams in the polls (St marys Murray) makes sense.

Having LBSU (only 3 spots behind WSU in the RPI) get the #2 game instead of WSU is not the end of the world (for the MVC yes but not for the bracket busters as a whole).

Come on it is not like WSU is 10+ spots ahead of LBSU in the RPI.

Baller, you need to stop it. That's about 4 or 5 straight posts that I've agreed with. The world is going to end!!!! :-D

like who? HAHA

who would want them?

the MW CUSA alliance? Sure but why would CU and Wichita want to join that?

The smart thing to do would have been for Elgin to opt out of the event and watch ESPN scramble to put 13 watchable games on the tubes without the Valley. But instead, Elgin, in his infinite wisdom, decided to lock up 4 years of this garbage. It think it's time to take Doug out with the trash.

guessing it will end or be scaled a back a lot if MVC leaves. Either get rid of it or scale back to 4-5 ESPN/2 games and that is it for tv.

If we can't get out of it, then Elgin needs to renegotiate our contract and really try to get a better deal going that only includes the MVC, MWC CAA, A10, CUSA and WCC for this event. Plenty of good games to get for the good teams and bad games for the bad teams. A much better television opportunity as well.

Even if we removed ourselves from the event and simply moved the start of the conference season back a week, that would help valley teams with an additional late December weekend for scheduling non-con games when other conferences are still playing them.

Yeah, I'm sure all the Valley teams except ISUR could get better non-conference opponents then the ones we got today.

It isn't a good game for CU. We are ranked and had earned a ranked team. Winning does nothing for us and a loss would really hurt.

Murray is ranked and had earned a ranked team.

Problem is there is only one ranked road team and two ranked home teams someone was gonna get screwed.

and I repeat only ONE team (Wichita State) that CU plays in the MVC has a higher RPI then LBSU. So how is that a "bad" game? Unless you wanna say ALL you MVC games with the exception of the 2 vs WSU are "bad" games.

It gives ya a top 50 win. 4-0 vs. the top 50, looks better than 3-0, right?

How does losing a game to a top 50 team really hurt you too?

I don't see Long Beach being any different than Wichita State. So losing to them in Omaha IMO, will have the same effect as losing to Wichita in Omaha. (obviously losing to the Shockers has conference championship implications).
