Sad news about Charlie Spoonhour.

A great guy who will be missed.

Charlie Spoonhour was a fantastic ambassador for The Valley. Loved Spoonball!! Sympathy goes out to his family, and he will be missed.

The thing I remember most about Charlie Spoonhour is his absolute humility. Everything was about the team and the university. Nothing was about him. When the Bears won it was all about his players. When they lost he tried to shoulder the blame. I don't remember him ever saying an unkind word about anyone.

And he could really coach to boot. He squeezed the most out of the talent we had. I never met him. But my father was the president of the MSU alumni association for a few years back then and met him several times. He (my father) said he was as kind and humble in person as he appeared in public.

Classy individual and one helluva story teller! He spoke at a Creighton booster luncheon a few years ago and I couldn't stop laughing.
