See my previous post. Stutz wasn't asked to score all season. He was asked to set screens. Granted, the worst game of the season for Stutz was against Creighton. Worst game for Doug? The only time he faced WSU. Doug is very deserving and a fantastic player. Doug does not alter the game the way Stutz does. How's that for a "case?"

Stutz is in the discussion, as is Weems, and Ryan. BUT, you cannot pick a choose what matters. If someone averages 30Pts against weak competition and 9 pts against stronger competition, it should all be evaluated. MVP is most valuable player - PERIOD.

I would, as I am sure Doug would, gladly give the award to Stutz and throw him a party if we could raise another banner.

Only some completely biased, nonobjective, school color tinted glasses wearing idiot, would suggest someone other than McDermott winning this award.

I can't believe there is even a discussion about this.

If WSU wins the title outright then I can see Stutz getting the looks and maybe the nod. If not it will be McDouché has anyone looked at the numbers in league play only?

I don't have a dog in the fight either but Pomeroy has Creighton with a non-con SOS of 222 and Wichita St at 97

for crying out loud, McDermott is up for national player of the year, on the updated Oscar Robertson list, etc.

This is ridiculous.

biggest stat that jumps out for me for McDermott, isn't his scoring, it's also his rebounding.

I think you make some legit points, but your statement above couldn't be more wrong. Every single coach in the league has tried to create a strategy to try to stop Doug. He routinely faces double teams and often triple teams. He most certainly alters the game and, in my opinion, in a much greater way than Stutz does.

Stutz impacts games because of the fact that against almost every single conference opponent he is the biggest and tallest guy on the floor. To paraphrase the coach at Bradley, Doug impacts games because against almost every single conference opponent he is the best player on the floor.

As to the award itself, it hasn't been a MVP award for a long time. The whole award has devolved into simply selecting the best player on the first place team. Frankly, I wouldn't be surprised if that is how the voting goes again this year as this whole conference has become very PC.

It would be interesting if Stutz wins MVP of the MVC, but Doug is first team all-american. I don't know how voters would reconcile this, but I don't think most of them care or even pay attention to the national college basketball landscape anyway. Only in this conference could such an anomaly take place....

Correct me if I'm wrong but it's not MVP right? It's most outstanding player.

Does it matter what they call it? People are arguing semantics to try and justify their bias for their team or dislike of another.

McDermott is the MVP, most outstanding player, player of the year, etc. What ever you want to call it, he's gonna win it.
