LBS was so damn careless with the ball. They had at least 6 and maybe 8 unforced turnovers. Mainly it was the ball just dribbling off their hands and rolling out of bounds.

While number 22, Casper Ware , has the potential to be a good player, he is far from one at this moment. He is selfish and almost refuses to give up the ball. He forced up several prayer shots, while well defended.

Dougie scored virtually all of his field goals in the deep paint. LBS's defense was just awful. This comment is not to disparage Dougie because he played extra well and took advantage of everything that LBS game him. Dougie has a great awareness around the basketball. He just has a great sense of knifing his way through a jungle of bodies and scoring - layups, tips, dunks.

In the future, CU has to do something about its lack of athleticism.

Crazy thing is that Ware was making most of those prayer shots, especially in the first half. The only time we stopped him was when Chatman guarded him at the end of the game.

Yes, you are so correcto. I noticed Chatman was on him like wheat on rye. Chatman is instant quick. He doesn't look too shoot very much.

Don't ya just love backhanded compliments? Seth Davis who has an issue with Creighton thanks to Matty P and writes on twitter, "Nice win for Creighton yesterday. Dougie was phenomenal. Young was clutch. But did the fans really rush the court? Smh." In other words, ya you won but I would have been happier if you didn't. Ya you had a real good win but I just gotta get one dig in there. Its college. Girls just wanna have fun. Let it go.
Richard if you know a way to get better athletes to CU, I am sure Greg would love to have lunch with you. Speaking of backhanded, AceDad did you see the nice talk and hug Doug and Greg had postgame? Probably not.

Poor analysis as usual. The reason McD goes off for many points is LBS tried to play him straight up most of the game. If every team did that he would go off for 25-30 per night.

The reason WSU's Smith "was so effective" on him is the same reason almost all other teams that slowed him down were effective, he got double and triple team help. About the only guy I saw all year beat up Doug mostly, but not always, one on one was Weems in the first game.

The only reason CU is one of the top 3 or 4 3-point teams in the nation is because of the McD and GE double teams leaving good 3 point shooters wide open for freaking target practice. That has changed over the last two weeks but the same shots that were going in earlier in the year aren't right now. If CU shoots anything, I mean anything close to even slightly below normal they win that game comfortably and most of the others too.

The Jays aren't a good defensive team and when the 3's aren't falling good teams play us close and really good teams beat our ass. If this team gets it's collective stroke back it will be a bunch no one wants to play. If they don't they won't last long in the dance.

All good teams look great when things are clicking. However, they don't always click. WSU is on a major hot streak right now but expecting that for the next month is asking a lot. When there is a night that things aren't going as well I will be interested to see if the anxiety-ridden, high strung coaches personality manifests itself in the team like it did in WSU-CU game 1.

That said, I think WSU and their senior-laden team is the best team in the Valley and I said that at the start of the year. I can't for the life of me figure out why they get so little respect on the national level.

WSU doesn't get much love because they are a good TEAM, not a star-laden superpower like Creighton. The talking heads love to gush over great players and WSU doesn't have a single one. Everyone gets bored easily with good teams who are merely a collection of decently-coached role players who execute well - as a team.

I do not believe your assertion is true, but nevertheless, let's assume for the moment that it is true.

If LBS could not guard Dougie one on one, why would you not consider it poor defense, if LBS continues to guard him one on one.

It was pretty clear to me that failing to control Dougie would likely lead to a defeat.

I am sure you know the definition of insanity.

Some of the Jay supporters are just off the charts way too sensitive. You expect 100% love for 100% of the time.

Hunter wrote:Some of you need to get over yourselves. As a CU fan I think charging the court was kind of dumb, but who really cares? I am pretty sure it was the first time in the nearly 10 year history of that building where the students charged the court. You all make it sound like it's a daily occurrence. You rip on Creighton fans for being too quiet and also when they're considered to be too enthusiastic. You can't give have it both ways, give me a break. Also, whoever made the comment "you can tell Creighton is a Catholic institution" needs to keep the religion slams out of it. And for the record, I had absolutely no problem when UNI stormed the court. They made a buzzer beater to beat a top 15 team. I don't know where the shame is in that. The people ripping on CU need to get over the obsession with one CU poster. It's clouding your judgment.

Don't worry about it Hunter. I'm flattered by the obsession.

Nice win for the Jays. I thought they gave it away at the end with the over and back, but LBSU gave the game right back. That was a great shot by Young at the end. Tough!

Absolutely. Props to the Catholic joke earlier, made even more funny by the Inquisition by the Creighton fan later. Yeah, I've heard enough of the "can't believe CU stormed the court, twice no doubt" talk as well, but after ripping UNI for doing so in a big time game against a top 15 team you should expect to get crap flung at you. I mean CU was a 6 point favorite, since when does the 6 point favorite rush the court. Buzzer beater or not. But its ok, act now, confess later.

After watching the game, I tremble in fear for when I will be routing for CU to win again (NCAA tourney). I am Shocker and Valley fan and watching Creighton made me want to pull my hair out. Doug is unbelievably good on offense, but just as unbelievably bad on defense. Their defense was entirely in effective until Casper Ware decided he was going to try to win the game on his own. Even so CU still should have been winning comfortably if Wragge had shot his usual %. CU did show great heart to pull it out.

Do CU fans think the week off before St. Louis and then 2 weeks off after will be crucial? How much of the shooting slump is because of tired legs? CU has played poor defense all year but again, do you think it is getting worse because of fatigue?
Thoughts and prayers to WSU finding a new conference.

What I am about to express is my opinion and I don't expect anyone to agree with me - certainly not the CU fans.

Did anyone see that fake foul that McDermott had where he was brushed by the other player and he screamed like he just had his guts knocked out and then did an exorbitant flop? I've seen him do this crap before and I am in all honesty losing some respect for him. No doubt he is at an elite level as a basketball player but his is also a putzz.

I suppose I am the only one who expects ethical behaviour and sportsmanship.
