Out of Conference: Coach Knight Berates His Seniors

Postby Ace Dad » February 24th, 2012, 7:47 pm

Some of us need to get our minds off of "do I need Thursday night hotel reservations" next week, so take a look at Coach Knight's (Lamar University) verbal thrashing of his seniors:

What do ya think?

I have a ton of respect for Pat Knight. I don't doubt others dislike him.

But all he's doing is telling the truth. I feel for those that think he's dead wrong. He was telling the truth.

The commentator on that link is an idiot. Maybe he should do a little research.

I have much respect for his pops who is one of the greatest of all time. But as for Pat, what has he ever done? He got the Tech job because of his dad and the Lamar job simply because his last name is Knight. If he wants to call out his seniors in such a public manner that is fine but the irony is that BK had similar issues with Pat when he was on IU's team.

So when does he start practicing his choke hold?

Make sure that there are no chairs near the court either. If he wants wants to rant against his players, then OK, but don't do it in public.

Pat has done absolutely nothing in his coaching career to earn anyones respect. Everything in his career was handed to him on a silver platter by his Dad.

As to the rant, everything he said might be true, but a press conference is not the place to air it out. Good coaches almost always defend their players in front of the media and criticize them behind closed doors.

I also find it ironic that the biggest problem with the team appears to be discipline and attitude problems, which IMO are a direct reflection of the head coach.

Agreed 100%.

I love when a guy sits up there preaches "accountability" without ever taking any personal responsibility for anything. I don't have a problem with coaches expecting certain things from players, etc. but that's a two way street. So Pat Knight coached the perfect game but the players just couldn't get it done?

Any bully can stand up on a pulpit and verbally berate people who aren't there to defend themselves or speak their side of the story. That's not "leadership" at all. That's cowardice. Pat Knight complains about lack of "accountability" and "leadership" from his seniors---well, Pat, where do you think they learned it from? You showed none of those characteristics during your juvenile rant.

Pat Knight has never won anything as a coach and its pretty easy to see why.

Oh, and berating player attitudes by pointing out poor shooting stats from one game is really funny. It just shows how clueless Pat is.
