That's the exception, not the rule. Yes, it does happen. D1 talent ends up at lower levels. Sometimes it's because they were late bloomers. Sometimes it's because of academic or attitude issues. Some are just missed. But for the most part, those teams shouldn't be beating D1 teams.

I don't see anybody getting removed from the league unless they volunteer, but I'd love to see teams/schools start paying for poor scheduling. That would help boost the league I believe and maybe it would give a school like UE a reason to leave the Valley.

I don't know how it impacts UE per se (other schools have had worse schedules), but I would like the restoration of the RPI 150 rule. I think that it is no coincidence that since the rule has been eliminated, the conference reputation has gone down.

What teams were ever kicked out of the league by this rule?
Is it just fans of other programs that don't want Evansville in the league? What are the other schools Coaches, ADs, or Presidents opinions on this matter?
UE schedules Butler this year, what if Butler tanks and has a low RPI, does UE get punished for that?

As a long time Aces fan, I have to throw in my 2 cents. Concerning the original topic, the loss to Depauw was pathetic, disgusting, just plain horrible to watch. However, keeping things in perspective, its still just an exhibition game. The more pressing concern of mine is the last 10 years of diminishing results. I could sit here and pretend to have the answers, but I dont. I do know that its much more frustrating for UE fans than it is for fans of the other schools in the valley. Believe or not, we're not happy and content to be the bottom dwellars, it's not some master plan we devised in the mid 90's to join the valley and single handedly ruin the conference RPI and national standing. I dont know if it's a coaching issue, athletic dept issue or institutional issue......but there is definitely a problem. Right now, I dont see it getting better. I hope Im wrong and I promise I'm going to support the team regardless, just wish I could see a light at the end of the tunnel.

Nobody was ever kicked out, but they weren't eligible for the distribution of funds made by the conference to the schools. That is a pretty significant financial sword to wield and made everyone fall into line.

Hopefully the coaches start building the future right now.....look at Taylor/Cox for the PG spot, Ryan/Jones at the SG spot, Holmes/Harris at SF, Peeler/Jahr at the other F spot, and rotate von Tongeren/Hopf at the C spot. I like Denver Holmes, but I think it may be in the team's best interest to bring him off the bench at the SF spot...let him play as hard as possible for 20 minutes and hopefully decrease his chances to get into foul trouble. I would also let Lacey come off the bench and be a role player/senior leader.....the team simply needs more scoring at this point in time, and opponents do not respect him as a shooter and play off him which clogs up the lane for cuts, post feeds, etc.

This team has more athletic ability than any Aces team in the past 10 years. They need to use this athleticism to their advantage and use their bench. They need to start incorporating more zone defense looks and allow their guards to attack the lane off the dribble as much as possible. Cox and Taylor are quick guards who can break down a defender and take him off the dribble.....the Aces must utilize this.

That is exactly what I would love to see this team do. That is the only way we are going to have any chance of improving in the future.

As a WSU fan, I want to apologize for the over the top douchie name calling others have done toward EU. No reason for it, it shows a lack of class on the part of those who do it, regardless of school affiliation. I am all for the Valley increasing the strength of its basketball, baseball, and volleyball as a conference as I think those have been and can be where our conference excels. Whether EU or others can ultimately be a good part of that or not is a fine question for a board such as this to debate and the debate here on this topic has been good--with the exception of the low road taking.
