I had heard MSU wasn't eligible due to a sub .500 record...is that true?

The CIT requires at least a 500 record against D1 competition but not the CBI. Oregon got in the CBI last year and won it all. They had a 15-16 record going in.

I hope Illinois St gets to the NIT. They have earned it this weekend.

I'd love to see us in the NIT, but one solid win (WSU) shouldn't wipe out an entire season of mediocrity. With our weak, horrible, pathetic, scheduling (for the last 5 years)...I see CBI in our future. If we get denied by the NIT, maybe this will be the wake up call our AD requires to step up our non-con?

Take the CBI or CIT bid seriously. Creighton really grew as a team with their run through one of these alphabet soup tourneys last year (I honestly can't even remember which one it was). For a team returning everyone like IlSU is going to do, the extra games, extra practices, etc. should be really beneficial for next year's team. In fact, a bid to one of these lesser tourneys may be better than the NIT as you could get a lot more games and practices.

I think if UNI gets an NIT bid then it will be at our expense. If we get an NIT bid, then it will be at theirs.

Either way, it sounds like if we don't get accepted to the NIT, we will be accepting a CIT bid.

We had a pretty bad attendance rate this year so it would be kind of interesting to see what sort of buzz this MVC tourney run gave us with our fans, but I would much rather us be on the road for an NIT game and it would be great if they sent us out west to a couple of those highly overrated Pac-12 teams.

ISU gets a CIT home game. Oh, wait, that's INSU not ILSU ?

Indiana State has accepted a bid to the 2012 CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament (CIT). The Sycamores will host their opening round game on March 13 inside Hulman Center. Ticket details coming soon!

It sounds like we are on the bubble as far as the NIT goes. I posted this on our site, but we were supposed to schedule a game around Dec. 10th this year that never happened. I guess games with SLU and ODU fell through so we didn't play any basketball from Dec.7th - Dec.18th this year. We have played 12 non-conference games, but the MTE we played in Cancun only counts as so many against the maximum you can schedule. My thought was that the redbirds should shcedule another game for this week or weekend. St. Mary's did this in 08-09 because they had an extra one, in hopes that it would boost their resume for a NCAA bid.

If the redbirds did this and locked up a 21'st win you would think it would only help our chances for the NIT.
