I think Marshall is a good coach and a heck of a recruiter. But he has a bit of the Bobby Knight syndrome. Sort of a bully, and can't quite come to grips that he ever is wrong or that he made a mistake. I also put a Bo Pelini in the same category. (You may recall Pelini's public "reprimand" from the UNL Chancellor after his antics at the Texas A&M game last year, which were broadcast on national tv.) As long as these guys win, they're boorish behavior is tolerated (and even embraced) by most fans and boosters. When the wins stop coming, such behavior is then used to as an excuse to cut ties. The good news for Shocker fans is this probably makes Marshall (slightly) less attractive to BCS schools. Especially when there are so many good mid-major coaches out there to choose from.

There you go, there is the silver lining - Elgin really trying to help WSU keep their coach.

While I regret my choice of words in a public forum, and insinuations that could have been made as a result, my thoughts regarding the game remain

Wow. His statement afterwords was like "eh....whatever." Doesn't really seem like he takes it seriously. He apologizes, but still feels the same way he did before. Still giving the refs and the commish credit for the win instead of the redbirds. We played better than you for one game. Why is that so hard to believe.

The way he is responding to this incident and the way he doesn't really care kinda makes me feel that he will be gone after this year. Calling it now. Good riddance. Go be a whiny baby somewhere else. I'm sure WSU will be fine with the next guy that steps up (Bruce Weber).

Interesting article on ESPN about Jabari Parker's recruitment and Bruce Weber. Assuming Bruce is canned, Jabari doesn't know about Illinois anymore, but Bruce has established such a good recruitment with him, I could see him pulling that out of his back pocket for wherever he lands (or to help him land softly).

And I present this year's sanctimonious, choir boys.

And it is a tie.

The winners are Star, JWA, glm, Bird and Double.

The worst of whom is glm. He sticks his finger in the air, checks to see which way the wind is blowing and then he piles on. Very predictable.

Total embarrassment. Maybe the Valley should kick WSU out of this league of elites and let them find somebody better. Absolutely embarrassing. Way more embarrassing than a coach headbutting his son during a timeout on national tv. That kind of emotion is allowed and acceptable.
